I take some time to report on the coop game.
I am a fan of this game because it enhances a rare quality in people, cooperation instead of competition, and many players enjoy it as I do.
This is the positive point.
Now the negative facts, the part UBI does not publicize: crashes and bugs.
Having logged a few hundred hours in coop, I guess I know about the game.
It's unbelievable how many bugs remain in these COOP maps and many players complain openly via chat (WTF, lot of comments on UBI, none of them positive,...).
Here are some bugs:
1- Players die at the beginning of the map, and at any moment, unexplained.
2- So many maps end by the very unpopular move which is the suicide of all 4 players to reset a faulty map which cannot end: not good.
3- Keys malfunctions or big delays.
4- Rockets, bombs or else that wont work (again suicide of all players necessary to reset the map), and sometimes to no avail as the bug repeats itself, people quit the game.
5-Checkpoints that do not work (again suicide...), sometimes resetting the map is of no use, people quit the game again.
6-People dying, no revival possible, when they get on rocks, on top of houses, or else, still unexplained.
7-People getting stuck.
8-A player stays apart, not playing, while others await revival (the game wont reset or finish), this player should be thrown out after a defined time lapse.
9-Re-allocation of keys that wont work, as when using gunships, and else.
10- FC3 crashes unexpectedly, at any moment.
Around one map on 2 or 3 shows one of these bugs.
The frustration of players is enormous as it may take half an hour to get to the end of a map which fails to end.
This report on bugs is only partial, I wont lose your precious time enumerating all of them.
It is obvious that COOP maps remain an unfinished work.
Why?
With so many millions copies sold, customers should expect a finished product.
Probably for $ reasons, UBI does not invest in this field.
If Far Cry 4 is to be managed the same way as Far Cry 3, it will be something to see.
My feeling is that UBI has made its profit now and managers decided that it is not affordable (?) to put more programming to finish this product.
Don't believe me?
Try it and join the club of frustrated clients.
Profit is the real name of the game.
I've played coop for a long time now. My observations in regards to people dying at the beginning and or for no reason and almost every other aspect of what you notice is that it is probably related to an internet connection speed. When the connection is good you get less lag and don't die. I've seen horrible bugs like yesterday I was in jailbreak and knifed the privateers at the beginning and COULD NOT BE KILLED. That would be considered a cheat, but I know I don't have any cheats so.... I've had unlimited ammo in one mision and would consider one of the other players was employing a cheat but....I don't know who and maybe no one did. I've had situations where repeatedly trying to revive by pressing "e" did nothing and someone else had to revive the teamate. We learn to live with the bugs because it is still a fun game to play and it is what it is. Where else can you play with someone in the U.S. and Russia, and Australia, and Japan at the same time? You are asking alot of the internet. Perhaps dedicated servers like TAW have to play on would help, I don't know. UBI sure has made enough money on this game to invest in them.
Whats really sad is that there was absolutely no heads up on the game on how to enjoy playing mulitplayer or Coop and you had to learn all the freatures and tricks and tips on your own.
If anything is frustrating to me, it's the fact that inexperienced player want to play insane level and then dont' listen to my seasoned advice on how to deal with the maps and continue over and over to go out as RAMBOs and get killed without staying behind cover and quit after the first skirmish area and leave a weakened team to continue on, on "insane" level when many are not level 75 or have the intuition to realize that COOP is a team sport and if they wanted to play single player they should have stuck with the FPS game instead. When I get with a seasoned team, insane level is easy. But with those who are not aware of the best spots to be or how to proceed behind cover, etc. it is impossible.
It would be nice if COOP offered player made maps to play on, also like in Multiplayer. Some of the player made maps in multiplayer are incredible works of art.
I totally agree.
There's also the bug that you want to give a booster shot and no one can take it.
What about the noobs that won't even try to give or take a shot...
How often do we have to tell them to stick together and take those shots. And please, take the energy boost. It reduces your reload time.
In addition 2 new bugs surfaced.
In the map "Payback", where players compete with jet ski, we see sometimes an empty boat while all players are still active on the map and going around to collect the bombs.
When the 9 bombs are placed to activate the explosion of the barrage, the barrage won't explode.
This means the checkpoint can't be reached.
The only solution I found is that the server has to quit the game to reset the map.
Also we see more and more a black screen at the end of a checkpoint (particularly the first map at the third checkpoint), when people are set to choose a weapon type before going on with the game.
It could be happening when a new player gets in the game much before the checkpoint is reached.
Please correct the situation.
Also a clear answer fron UBI would be appreciated to all these "bugs".
They are supposed to be the most qualified to answer as they created and manage this game.
