I think you must be suffering from a failing mouse cord. When you move it just right, the computer thinks the left button is being clicked.
Try a different mouse, and if that fixes it you a good to go. If that fixes it but your original is an expensive gaming mouse, then you might want to contact the manufacturer to see if they can send you a new cord to replace the bad one.
I've had this happen several times i the last 2 decades or more, and in every case the mouse cord/cable was failing right where it enters the mouse body. I'm an electronics guy so I was able to open my mouse, cut out the bad section (about 2 inches), and splice the connections instead of trying to find a replacement cord.
Good luck...

If you have downloaded via Steam - they automatically update titles as part of the download - so it's highly likely you are upto date - if you are connected to the internet when you start the game - Steam will also check and update if needed.
I suggest you contact support - since its an odd issue - if the mouse uses any software to control extra features - it maybe that - so try uninstalling it and only using the native windows drivers?
All the problems in this so called GAME are a result of it being a box port. The controls in this POS are not PC they are written from Xcrap through an emulator. And the emulation of mouse movements has been the ruin of PC gaming for about 4 or 5 years. The gun going off is actually the least of the mouse problems. It's infrequent and you just play that over. But the mouse look and the tearing can directly be contributed to a bunch of lazy SOB's who are no longer interested in computer gaming but aren't willing to give up the cash.
If EAGames are the worst company in America 2 years running - Ubisoft is a close second since the day they took over Far Cry from Crytek. If we could get to the archives you would see it in my and others posts on that day.
