I figured out it is a Uplay error. I tested a lot of stuff and after eliminating drivers issues, visual c++ issues, directX issues it could only be one thing: network related.

So I fixed it like this. (This normally will FIX the demo and the retail game)

    1. Open UPlay
    2. Log into UPlay
    3. Choose 'Go Offline'
    4. Disable your Wifi or Ethernet Card (right click the network icon next to you clock, choose 'open network and sharing center', 'change adapter settings', right click your card and choose 'disable'. If you have a laptop you can just press the physical button to disable your WiFi.
    5. Start Rayman Legends. It will now work and won't crash anymore. However you cannot play online. You will unlock Uplay achievements and rewards however. They will be synced when you go online again.

After playing the game, make sure you enable your wifi or network card again and go online with UPlay again to sync your achievements.

I hope a patch is in the works for this. I don't know why I get this problem. I got this problem on all my hardware configurations at home so I guess it must be ISP related (maybe a proxy).

I hope this will fix the problem for most of you.
    Good luck!

    Many Thanks
Works for the Legends Demo running on XP

Just bought Rayman Legends and there is still no fix for it crashing on launch. Also, the fixes described by everyone else hasn't worked for me so I just have a completely unplayable game. Thanks Ubisoft.

Now I am not getting the sync achievements error, however, the game still crashes before I can even see it. What's up with that?
I've seen many posts about that issue from years ago... seriously? I'd like to play this game in co-op this coming weekend!

    My solution.

I had the same problem. Has been fighting it for some time now. For me the problem was the ethernet card drivers. I had quacolm killer net manager software installed with it's drivers. Turning off the card worked for me but was annoying and not a solution.

I uninstalled the software with it's drivers and replaced them with the new drivers without the quacolm killer software. (New drivers pack has been released here: http://www.killernetworking.com/supp...ther-downloads).

    Hope it helps.

I don't use windows anymore, but I give all of you some suggestions that might solve the issue (don't read if anyone else suggested them here, but it seems not):

    1) Verify that BOTH steam AND uplay (if you have steam version of the game) are runned as administrator. IF not set them to be runned with administrator privileges
    2) set your firewall (windows firewall or antivirus firewall) and add an exception for: steam, uplay and rayman legends programs. In this way try to let all those programs to be listed as secure so the firewall not eventually prevent them to use your internet connection

If this not solve the problem, try to remember if uplay you installed was able to update itself at least one time after you installed it.
If NOT the problem could be also the location where you installed uplay -> in this case check out this reply:

And see if it solves also your problem.

The Unqou's solution worked for me

Running the Uplay client with adminastror rights seems to have solved the issue. I just right clicked on the Uplay icon and then "Run as Administrator" and I launched the game from here. Here's my machine full specs:

OS Name: Microsoft Windows 10 Home
    Version: 10.0.16299 Build 16299
    System Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
System Model HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC
    System Type: x64-based PC
    System SKU: F1Y91EA#ABZ
    Processor: AMD A6-5200 APU with Radeon(TM) HD Graphics, 2000 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
    BIOS Version/Date: Insyde F.20, 14/03/2017
    SMBIOS Version: 2.7
    Embedded Controller Version: 31.37
    BIOS Mode: UEFI
    BaseBoard Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
    Locale: United Kingdom
Hardware Abstraction Layer: Version = "10.0.16299.98"
Time Zone: W. Europe Standard Time
Installed Physical Memory (RAM): 8.00 GB
    Total Physical Memory: 7.47 GB
    Available Physical Memory: 5.35 GB

I also have an external monitor plugged to my laptop. If I run the game from there it'll work just fine. The issue was only when launched with the monitor plugged in.

    Finally i can run it.

Just disable your wifi/lan connection or unplug ethernet cable just when the game starts - when started, you can enable/plug back again, having all achievements synced.
