EDIT: He replied in this topic earlier, but now there's more info about it. He just "passed it on". How in earth is going offline fully a fix for playing the game? For one game?
EDIT2: Nearly 4k views at the time of writing, and still nothing. This is starting to become less about the game and more about giving an example to Ubisoft. This is unheard of and disgusting. Words cannot express how terribly frustrated I am with your support monkeys.
I logged in to express my concern and to completely agree with you. We are now 15/01/2014. This problem was first reported in August and guess what: it still isn't fixed. I just bought the game and after installing the horrible UPlay client (because the fact that I now have both Steam, Origin AND UPlay isn't bad enough) and launching Rayman Legends, it crashed after a few seconds.Originally Posted by Darmvlinder Go to original post
The only reason why they haven't fixed it yet is because it probably hasn't affected a large amount of people. Or at least not large enough for Ubisoft to care. This is a horrible way to treat your customers and although I can't do anything about it: at least someone will read this. Someone that will now probably feel frustrated because his game won't launch.
As for what "fixes" it for me: I disabled my internet connection and started UPlay in Offline mode. That fixed it. But don't you DARE turn on your internet connection again if you want to continue playing, you miserable wrench! How dare you!
Cheers.
Going offline fixes this for me too.
Now that GFWL is dead, uPlay has moved up a place and become my most disliked piece of middleman crapware. Steam is far from perfect, but its many pros greatly outweigh its cons. Origin is annoying, but stays out of my way a bit more than uplay does. I suspect most PC gamers feel similarly.
C'mon ubi, your games are good enough already to make us want to buy them, and Steam provides all the DRM you need. Stop saddling us with this 'value subtracted' garbage.
I had the same problem for quite a while and here is what probably solved it suddenly for me since last week.
I can now stay online while starting Rayman Legends :-)
Network card settings:
- I use a fixed IP instead of using DHCP (my router is a Cisco/Linksys E3000) -> Default Gateway and DNS is my router IP (in my case 192.168.1.1)
Router settings:
- Instead of the Telenet (my ISP) DNS servers I use the OpenDNS IP's
DNS 1 : 208.67.222.222
DNS 2 : 208.67.220.220
So you have to add them in your router settings -> Static DNS1 and 2 -> (that's why you use the router IP in your network card settings)
More info on the following website -> http://www.opendns.com/opendns-ip-addresses/
Try this and let us know. If this doesn't work for you I can check a little further if anything else is changed since last week.
So I realise this thread is a little stale, but to my knowledge no fix is yet to be found (still!), so I thought I'd share something I've noticed recently with you.
I am generally busy during the day, so I tend to play Legends in the evening, around the same time every day. I do the daily/weekly challenges and some single player, then quit.
What I've noticed is the following: If I try to play the game again after doing the challenges, I will get the '.exe stopped working' crash on launch. However, if I try to play ~24 hours after doing the challenges, I can launch the game no problem. So my theory is that the crash is somehow related to the daily challenges being complete (I haven't had any week-long periods of crashes so I assume the weekly challenges do not affect this issue), though I have little idea why or how this might be caused.
Maybe some of the more technical among you/Ubi have any ideas based on this information?
