One thing I think would be awesome in the division is if it had NPC's that were ur go to people. What I mean by this is it seems like in epic games, movies and tv series a lot of times theres a character outside of the main characters that is the go to guy, the best friend when there in a real pinch. For instance Saul Goodman in Breaking Bad is awesome with hooking Jesse and Walt up when there in a pinch. Or even in the Splinter Cell series Lambert always was excellent at providing awesome dialog throughout the game. It be cool to run into a charismatic character like that that can provide u with weapons and information in the Division world.
I dont know how in depth the NPC interaction will be in the division as far as dialog but even if they only had a handful of these characters throughout the city as some kind of easter egg that would be so epic. It be cool if they would evolve and add more interactions with these characters through patches, for intanse ubisoft sees a lot players requesting a certain non glitch issue be resolved, maybe they could implement the patch by having he NPC provide you with the resolution whether it be a weapon to counteract a balance issue, or certain equipment, or just new stuff players were requesting. This kind of thing Id love to see in this living open world games, it be costly if they had to spend a ton of money on voice actors to do new takes every month or so for but it be really awesome.
Another cool aspect to see is how in the PVP sections of the game work. How characters will trade stuff and what if anything will be used as currency. What do you guys think about all this? And what kind of NPC would you like to see in the division?( you can reference a movie or game doesn't necessarily have to be that exact character but maybe one you would like to see modeled after for reference)
I would love to see Lambert from splinter cell(even though he is supposedly dead) in as an Easter egg; retired from the NSA you discover him and he helps out your squad, I know this is wishful thinking and getting Dennis Haysbert to voice act probably wont happen but it be cool little nod even if they dont tie him to the SC series.
Yeah I'm ok with that, but I would like some characters that had a real human feel to them, like GTA series does... I don't think it would be impossible but time consuming and cost might curb it from happening.Originally Posted by havox3 Go to original post
If anything, I hope that you get a few NPCs that each give you a small bit of unrelated information, like the Policeman in the E3 demo did with the Armoury. I don't like it when there's an "oracle" character in games. (In Splintercell it was kind of ok, because it could be explained by them being 'super spies'.) in my opinion, it ruins the whole role-playing aspect of it, if you've got plenty of time to think how you'd react to something, because some "oracle" character told you a tonne of information that you wouldn't have otherwise!
I concur with this. I enjoy being misdirected and getting small details to allow myself to figure out what is going on (or even being able to guess it before it happens because I was able to follow the breadcrumbs) I dislike when I feel like the developers are holding my hand the whole time, walking me through the game and giving me great things without me actually earning them or accidentally stumbling upon that amazing weapon. I love being able to discover and enjoy the game and experience twists and turns just as you would in real life.Originally Posted by c-swain Go to original post
