    The map.

This is the first time I have ever seen anything like that.

So what are you guys thoughts on it?

Do you have to be at a standstill in order to use?

If you are running, especially in a PVP fight, and you are trying to get away, can you deploy it and it will act as a guide to the safest area?

Can it be deployed in doors?

Is there a smaller version that you can use if you would like?

I know there is an ask the dev section. I doubt these questions will EVER get answered by them. I just wanted to get the community talking, this is just a topic from the small amount of information that we currently have. So let the speculation begin.

i really like the look of it, nice clean HUD too. i don't think there is any real details about how it work's.

i would guess it won't be limited to where you can use it, during movement maybe allowed too.
during the reveal when the map is brought up from the smart watch he puts his arm back down and goes into the default stance.
the map is then rotated left and right, there might be a zoom in and out function and hopefully we can mark objectives on the map too

    these are good questions

Im loving the look of the map. Very simplistic, but with plenty of detail.
What I want to know is can you zoom & scroll the map? Or is fixed to lets say, a radius of 2 miles from the player?

And yeah, while we saw a large sprawling map when standing in the middle of the street, what will happen when you're inside / in smaller dimensions?
I'm worried that there'll be a lot of situations where the map will be 'squashed' and glitchy, say if it's "opened" when you're standing right up against a wall.

Exactly what I was thinking. Supposed I need to hide in an area to assess my situation, plot my route out of the danger zone. How functional is this map? That's why I really want to know if I can pull it out while running (which I highly doubt).

It would be nice if we got a smaller map, less detailed displayed on the screen when we are in smaller rooms/areas. Even if it is for a brief moment.

That's a point. Can other players see your map?
Imagine if you're trying to hide from someone, but need to check your map in order to escape.. Will it just blow out into the room/street and give away your position?
Also, I just thought. Maybe your "inside" map is more of a floor plan of the building you're in, and to get the city map, you've got to be outside?

I suppose a solution to this squashed and glitchy map could be pretty simplistic and still look as amazing as the one in the street did.

I could easily say them saying all they need is a flat (or near flat) plane to project the map on. So I don't see why it couldn't be project on a wall if you were close, and then if you were behind cover why not have in projected onto the palm of your hand? You will simply zoom in on it of course and then some sort of marker for your current position would be displayed on the map. This seems like a nice clean and technologically beautiful way of doing it. That or it will just be projected off the surface of the watch a few millimeters above it so you can still get that Eagle eye perspective.

As for running away I would be interested in seeing how they do that. Though I personally won't be pulling out my map without first deploying some sort of distraction/decoy.

I like your idea though, of it being a floor plan if you are inside a building. They should atleast add the position of the building. You know instead of showing the full street lay out. have it zoomed in on the building you are in. Have the building raised up, but all the surrounding areas small and condensed, so that you can see where you are, if you decide to leave it.

The part about others seeing your map will probably not be a problem. in game the interface or HUD is in the form of a pair of contact lenses that display the data and give it a 3d feel. This means that its not a projection on the ground around you for everyone to see.

As to the matter of being able to see a buildings layout im on the fence. The large area map is probably based on satellite images and works in principle like Google earth(probably with more frequent updates) But inside building i think it should be limited to areas where you have been given blueprints, or perhaps create them as you go along exploring a house.

I was just looking for a completely unrelated picture of The Division, and came across this:

Source: IGN Wiki - The Division

I believe it's a freeze-frame from the end of one of the videos, but I'm not 100% sure. Either way, I hadn't seen the still image before and thought other people might enjoy it!
It's got some pretty interesting info on it!

As well as getting a good look at the size of the Dark Zones and an extraction ping, we can see that even in the "Safe Zone", areas can still go critical, meaning you'll probably have to fight people / complete 'events' to re-stabilise them!

This map is from the end of the original gameplay video and has in another thread("what we know" I believe) been proved as only a cgi video representation to make a cool ending to the game and not reliable to get information from. It has several discrepancies from the other maps like the one we discuss here aswell as the one in the policestation. its off target in a few other areas aswell but read the what we know thread to see more.
