Open radiators slow you down. Keep them as closed down as you can without overheating. You'll need to keep a close eye on the coolant, cylinder head, exhaust gas and oil temperature gauges so you can open the relevant radiator as required (not all gauges on every aircraft, depend on it being liquid or air cooled and what the designer thought the pilot would need).
Thanks for the reply! Right now having them open at all times, the oil and water radiator gauges are at about 85-90 degrees at all times. Am I doing something wrong? I can only speak for blue....109s oil at 50% is fine, water 100%, For a 110- oil 100% water 50%. but if you climb up in the 110, say over 3k, water rad has to go to 100%. cruising temp is about 88-89C anything higher and you blow the cooling out. you really have to watch the temp and power back. this is a result of the TF mod, in vanilla version it wasn't so easy to overheat.
