Black map debunked as a source of potential information on the game.

First I will post the two screenshots then explain what we're seeing and where the proof is. First is the Ingame Map.

Second is the black map, flipped on it's side to more closely match the ingame map for easy of use.

Now looking at those maps we see a few things....1 the dark zone seems to have expanded West, past where the Brooklyn Bridge comes in. But it also expanded south, right to where the road curves, which is just North of the NYC Office of Emergency Mng and the Brooklyn War Memorial. (remember the maps are oriented so West is up, due to that being the orientation of the ingame map)

Now we can't see any location markers in the dark zone, but we can see a location "Court" that has the tag Secured, and a location that's failing. Court is too far West to be the NYC Office of Emergency Mng, which is the only secured point in that area. Also the Brooklyn War Memorial was critical at the start of the mission and should be West South-west of NYC:OEM....that's the docks though. So "Court" is too far west and either off the map or not in the game. However, That still leaves the Brooklyn War Memorial, and NYC:OEM off the map, and one should be marked failing and the other Critical. Plus there's location marker 03 which is just off the south-east corner of the darkzone? Based on the layout of the roads, it should be where the single dot marker is....that's a solo player according to the theory about the dots in the circles....No location marker there either.

But even the layout of the roads is wrong. Look at marker 03 on the ingame map. There's a loop across the double road from the Brooklyn bridge on the ingame map, and a curved double road that runs from where that loop is to where 03 is. On the black map, there are a bunch of curved roads around the area where 03 should be that just aren't on the ingame map.

So since the black map doesn't match the ingame map in too many ways....it's clearly just a CGI that they used to end the video because it looks cool, and not a real indication of anything we'll see in the game.

I Thought We Already Decided That The Black Map Was CGI To End The Video. What Prompted You To Provide Such A Detailed Reason As To Why It Was Unuseable?

But As Usual Thank You For Your Time And Effort.

It just seems like a lot of people are still looking at the black map and speculating on what it means in relation to the game, when it's just something an animator threw together to end the demo video and has nothing to tell us about the game. Just thought it would be nice to have this thread to point to anytime someone brings up the black map to try and support one of their points.

well I did add to the wiki info based on both maps

but anyway the game is still more than a year away before release, so any bits of info from official sources can be used to build the best picture of the game you can, even though it is speculations.
There's gonna be a lot of speculations before the games comes out

anyway also am sure the black map has some truth to it, plus anyway even details in the other map might change some before release

While I agree that the details from the ingame demo can change, in my opinion speculating on an artist's rendering that is contradicted by what we've seen in the actual gameplay is like using one of the Star Trek novels to argue a point related to one of the actual series. While the novels are licensed, they are not cannon and therefore not a reliable source of information. For the same reason, the only thing that I have taken from the Concept art for the "What We Know" thread is the M4, and even that I've tagged specifically as being from the concept art which is therefore suspect. Neither Concept Art, nor an artist's rendering at the end of a gameplay demo are actual gameplay footage or dev commentary, and are therefore suspect at best. Until such time as we see things shown on the black map in an actual gameplay demo, it would be better for the community to just disregard the black map in it's entirety.

For the Wiki, I would highly suggest not using anything from the black map since it's speculation and not facts seen in gameplay or interviews with the developers. A wiki should convey confirmed information until such time as that information changes, if it doesn't then it becomes a detriment to the community rather than an aid. Of course, that's just my personal opinion based on a lot of other wikis I've read that either weren't updated or the owner just put things in that were completely off the wall.
