Do you think the virus/plague in the game will have an effect on us? Can we get it? If so, what happens? Do we begin to die, do we have to find a way to keep the effects off? Maybe it begins to make our characters have game changing effects. Like, delirium/insanity, coughing and fatigue, hallucinations etc etc? Are certain things in the game infected with it that we can't go by? (if it can stay on a banknote many objects in the game world must be infected with it, and you see a character int h e video with a gasmask. Is it airborne in some zones?) Will civilians who are infected have a harmful effect on us, and can we kill them/quarantine them in order to save many more lives?
Q. Do you think the virus/plague in the game will have an effect on us?
A. I believe so, unfortunately there is no way to be sure at the moment. I think it would add a new factor into the game, one of making sure you stay away or "cure" the civilians with a pack mentioned in the GP trailer.
Q. Do we begin to die, do we have to find a way to keep the effects off?
A. Ha! Wouldn't that be crazy. sounds like it's time to reroll.
Q. Maybe it begins to make our characters have game changing effects. Like, delirium/insanity, coughing and fatigue, hallucinations etc etc?
A. Could be fun. Deliriously see enemies that aren't there? lol. Coughing and you show up on the map. Really bad in PvP zones.
All in all, I doubt it would be something that drastic. Game dev's do need to keep their players happy and playing after all.
edit: formatting.
In the trailer Bronson says: "Civilian on the left, she's gone red. I'm low on packs though, we have to leave it." And the scan the player does states Contagious. I'm personally thinking that we can help civilians by providing health packs but I doubts we can get seriously infected our self, we just don't know yet.
Please make sure you also ask your question there as well.Originally Posted by Nietzschean123 Go to original post![]()
Prefix: The Developers are not releasing any information with regards to the story. Also, a lot has changed from what we saw in the original trailers ("Civilian on the left, she's gone red.." etc.) so all of the following is really just speculation, and could have been changed when the game is released.
1. Do you think the virus/plague in the game will have an effect on us?
I don't think so. We are required to use respirators/gas masks in the Dark Zone, but this is where the infection is greatest. Whether the virus will actually have any physical effect on us, other than limiting the time that we can spend in the Dark Zone, is yet to be known. I believe the Agents are meant to be immune / equipped with the right medical supplies to deal with it.
2. Do we begin to die, do we have to find a way to keep the effects off?
Extremely unlikely, unless it is written into the story. The development team want to stay away from making it a survival game - They decided early on that they wouldn't include a food or water mechanic, so the likeliness of an "infection" mechanic is very unlikely.
3. Are certain things in the game infected with it that we can't go by?
Probably? The Dark Zone is meant to be the worst affected area, and has been quarantined off in an attempt to control it. I imagine that you won't be able to enter the area until you are a high enough level, due to the PvP capabilities. As to whether it will block off certain areas, I'm sure the Developers will use it as an excuse for "you can't go here" / edge of map type situations, but we've yet to see the whole map, so it's difficult to say.
4. Will civilians who are infected have a harmful effect on us, and can we kill them/quarantine them in order to save many more lives?
This is an interesting question! In the original trailers, the idea was that you could heal / kill the infected in order to stop the spread of the disease, therefore slowly regaining control of the city, block by block. Since then, a lot of things have changed; one of which is the roaming Dark Zones became a singular, much bigger, static Dark Zone. Because of this, I think it is unlikely that healing / killing civilians will have any real effect on "saving lives", other than psychologically. However, as I said before, we don't know anything about the story yet, so this could be a primary objective in order to "unlock" more areas of the PvE zone.
