What is the difference between 4.12 and 4.12m

4.12 does not exist, correct version name is 4.12m.

Or, if you consider the missing 'm' from '4.12' as a typo, then they are the same.

I’d just like to take this opportunity to thank Team Daidalos for another outstanding patch!
Special thanks for the Mixture axis and the wide screen enhancements, and so much more.
IL-2 continues to be my favorite combat flight sim because I can actually play it on my computer, unlike other eye candy sims.
You know, being able to count the grasshoppers in the swaying grass isn’t a bad thing, but that’s not what I play a combat flight sim for. One thing for sure though, If Team Daidalos decides to do the swaying grass thing, you can bet your /// it will run on our rigs just fine!
IMHO, IL-2 (1946) is demonstrably the best engine of it’s kind and I want to salute everyone from Oleg on down who ever had a hand in it’s development!
Lucky for other sim makers that IL-2 stayed in the late 30’s thru mid 40’s era of aircraft. There would have otherwise been a serious monopoly.
    Rock on T. D.

I think you'll need 4.11 as well. Your career will continue from the same point after the two patches, but be warned the AI are much tactically improved. They now know how to do a proper scissors and are pretty good at energy fighting.

This patching guide at M4T will help you get you installation current.
    IL-2 1946 Installation and Patching Guide: http://www.mission4today.com/index.p...p=show&kid=584

I would make a copy of your current v4.10.1 installation and patch it instead so that you will have the ability to revert to v4.10.1 if you don't like how the campaign plays in v4.12m.
Just copy the entire IL-2 Sturmovik folder and you shouldn't have any problems patching the copy. You will also need to add a new shortcut on your desktop that points to the updated copy of your game.

Yeah if you have a 4.10.1 I'd keep a copy handy just for UP & DBW... but as far as I am concerned 4.12 & HSFX are the way to go.
