    Dear IL-2 fans.

On behalf of 1C:Maddox Games and Daidalos Team, we are pleased to present you the patch 4.12.

The development of 4.12 patch took us once again much longer time to complete than expected. Our main focus this time was on delivering some of the most requested features plus AI & mission building improvements. Development was started by gathering a list of most requested features from several forums and trying to figure out what we can implement with our small team. This time we also included some visual improvements (in form of effects, textures & UI changes) instead of the usual simulation & realism tweaks only. And of course the patch would not be complete without few new flyable & AI planes. All of them our dear favorites that we've hoped to fly for the past decade or so. For example the Curtiss Hawk-75 external model was delivered to Maddox Games almost exactly ten years ago by a member of our team. Now ten years later it is time for the cockpit. So you can expect to see Beaufort cockpit in 2023 (or in two weeks).

As with the previous patches we would like to ask the IL-2 community members to please report any relevant issues or errors we did not catch through our beta testing process. We will open new 4.12 debugging threads soon.

Of course you can also use our DT email for the bug reports:

Congratulations and thanks .I have been playing IL2 since around 2004 and it makes me very sad to see what became of it over the last 2 years .I am still mostly using the original game .CLOD SHOULD NOT have been allowed die in favour of a game engine that was clearly far inferior .I wish all involved with original IL2 the best .As I already own ROF and rarely bother with it I cant see how it can suceed. I could be playing IL2 4.24 in ANOTHER ten years time! Thanks again ,John 42 Ireland

CLOD is far from dying and is at the moment moving on with a new chapter with the Battle of Stalingrad!

But back to 4.12... Il-2 FB/1946 has come a very long way and TD has just provided a very important upgrade to the game itself. Have to say... more than just adding aircraft, they have updated the core of IL-2. After all the changes and updates over the last 10yr's, this is probably the best upgrade to the game since AE and PF.

Il-2 or CLOD dead... not yet! LoL

I'm guessing that 4.12 is not compatible with the current mod packs, is that so?

While there are some very worthwhile upgrades being made by dedicated amateurs for CLOD the Battle of Stalingrad game is not a 'blood' broother/sister of it .Rather it is based on an old game ROF.The 'leaked' video is frankly not much of a game raiser compared with IL2 1946...compared with CLOD it looks awful. :-( Now maybe Im wrong and the new mod team ARE doing Eastern Front content for CLOD down the road -if so i will be delighted -but the 'new' Battle of Stalingrad project seriously fails to excite me .I mightnt even bother buying it if its dear.

I don't know what IL2 you have been looking at but even stock it is great.. with HSFX it is fantastic.. As for CoD ... CoD is what it is .. it was what it was when it was released.. that has more bearing on why it is in it's current state. Also .. for the record CoD was not abandoned by 1C ( allowed to die .. is too strong because while it may not have the full developer support it once had it is far from dead... or dieing..) in favor of IL2 .. it was abandoned by 1C because it had over half a decade of support and at the time of it's release there was not a lot to show for it..

I think BoS s a descendant of L2 but not a continuation of CoD.

Not yet but SAS has a mod activator out already.. I think HSFX will take a few months so we are probably looking at end of summer early fall but I am not sure. Based on what I read at the 242 site CC said 2-3 months after 4.12 is released..

The first part I agree with ..BoS is more related to IL2 and RoF . As for the rest of your post ... I don't know about all that. Of course that is your opinion which you are entitled to but I think BoS looks pretty good for an Alpha and I also think it looks like a step up generationally from IL2.
