I had a pioneer receiver that I ran my xbox using optical with little to no lag. then I upgraded my receiver with a newer pioneer model and I have horrendous lag with the same configuration.

Have you tried direct mode? Supposedly that turns off all audio processing.

I registered for this forum so I could comment. I want this game but since I'm buying the Xbox One on Nov 22nd I can't justify purchasing this on my 360. I'd buy this in a heartbeat if it was out for the Xbox One.

Ubisoft are you listening or do I need to wait until the 2015 for a current console version?

The next gen isnt even out yet, rocksmith is a niche game, the install user base of the next gen will be reaaaaaalllyyyyyyyy small the first 2 years, releasing rocksmith 2014 on next gen isnt gonna happen, and another iteration of the game, is most likely not gonna happen for a while, i'd say at least the next 3-4 years, when the number of owners of next gen systems is high enough to make a profit, right now is safer to sell an update to the owners of the first version, that have everything that they need to play.

With RS 1 I noticed bad lag with the audio going thru thee HDMI. I ended up going direct from my PS3's A/V into my stereo, that seemed to work OK.. With 2014, however, I have no discernible lag, even thru HDMI.

I am using the optical out from my TV into my sound bar and I have no lag. Working well with both Rocksmith and Bandfuse.

No lag on optical out. Used it for ages. The lag you get on HDMI is due to the compression of HDMI, nothing to do with being digital. There is NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OPTICAL OUT (encoded PCM STEREO) AN AN ANALOG OUTPUT.

The sound is still digital until the very last D/A conversion. In fact, I would expect the optical out would be faster and less lag than analog, since there is NO D/A conversion.

The lack of knowledge on this simple concept is insane.

If you are playing out optical out from your tv, you do have lag. especially if your input source from your ps3/whatever is hdmi! The optical cable needs to come directly from your console/pc

I got no idea what is going on with this old thread, but I am moving it to GD so it does not take up space in the main game forum.
