1) Warrior Rescue Service. 2) Spent ages mashing that flaming space key to escape drowning. Then I get free after about 10 attempts. Then I get to attack the helicopter. Then FC3 crashes. Then, the next day, I find I am back at the bl00dy Vaas "am I mad" monologue again. Why am I not at the restore point any more. I have gone backwards several hours of listening to that Vass monologue!
THIS IS REALLY NOT ACCEPTABLE. . . . NOT ACCEPTABLE. . . . NOT ACCEPTABLE. . . . NOT ACCEPTABLE. . . . NOT ACCEPTABLE. . . . NOT ACCEPTABLE. . . . NOT ACCEPTABLE. . . . NOT ACCEPTABLE. . . . NOT ACCEPTABLE. . . . NOT ACCEPTABLE. . . . NOT ACCEPTABLE. . . . NOT ACCEPTABLE. . . . NOT ACCEPTABLE. . . . NOT ACCEPTABLE. . . .rant over.
Anyone know how to save a partial mission to avoid such time wasting?
Terry
Lets take things in order:
1). Wrong forum. This is the Blood Dragon forum, you want the FC3 forum.
2). You don't say what your platform is. If you are on a PC, the game isn't crashing, your PC is. For months people got away with blaming it on the game, until people like myself finally had enough of it, blamed it on the PC, and offered to help. Slowly but surely, people discarded their contemptuous arrogance acknowledged that they needed help, and myself and others got almost everyone working. The ones that are still experiencing crashes are the one's who's arrogance refuses to let them acknowledge that just because their machine can play 8, 10, or 15 other titles doesn't mean their machine is not at fault when their PC crashes while playing FC3. If you are on something other than a PC, I have no idea, good luck.
3). Your repetitious "NOT ACCEPTABLE" rant sort of paints a picture of you that indicates you will be one of the difficult ones to work with, so, unless you change your attitude, perhaps grow up a little bit and ask for help instead of stamping your feet like you were denied dessert after dinner, you might never get it fixed, who want to help a ranting lunatic?
4). Submit a ticket to UBi, see if they can help. Search the FC3 forum, ask nicely for help from your peers. Search the web, there are plenty of sites that siphoned off advice from the FC3 forum, and packaged it as if they created/own the information. These will probably be your best bet as there are a lot of people who refuse to actually work towards something themselves, they'd prefer to have others do the work for them.
Best of luck.

Lets take things in order:
1) Apologies. Wrong forum.
2) It was a PC. The PC was running fine. The farcry process crashed. Nothing else was affected. It does this repeatably when left unattended and without focus for a period of time.
3) Apologies for the rant. When will you apologise for your offensive rant about my rant?
4) I'll try the ticket to UBI. Maybe they will listen. IMHO (as a software designer with over 30 years experience) made some poor design decisions around their save strategy. That will take some serious effort to put right. Maybe they will consider changing it if enough people rant!
I just want to post my agreement with farCryfan who in my opinion has not been offensive nor uncivil. If you are truly not as immature as your original post infers and reply states then maybe you can take some advice from me as well. He has been rather generously civil responding to an incorrect post. I do not want to fuel flames in any event....
I can play the scenario just fine. Its one of my favourites and I have played about 50 times successfully to date (I get anal about strategy of game play; my bag, my problem) I admit it is a bit challenging to play through that part and your best strategies is to load up with all the requisite booster shots and after melee take downs of the three pirates and taking their weapons and ammo take the speed burst and accuracy shots first. Don't shoot anyone but just sprint to roof and climb up and take out the two guys up there (melee kills), take out further targets from there and abandon before the ammo gets blown up. Take the sniper rifle and smg off the roof asap and maximum ammo and play to left side and rear of map with fireproof boosters etc..
Regarding crashes there should be no problem for you to swap out your hard drive and fit a solid state drive (ideally) or fast new hard drive with minimal load of just fresh OS and game and drivers so you get minimal demands on hardware. You can just clone the drive and remove all software down to OS and game ONLY. then make image onto another drive. Always best to have two identical HDs fitted to have one as a clone copy in any event (one not hooked up) . Don/t worry about malware as you can merely re-image/clone the drive daily or as you see fit.) I am presuming MS OS and not running within a VM; Run resource monitor and check the log to determine cause of crash if it still happens. Often some of the most commercial and advertised firewalls and anti-malware software (I cannot name the 2 worst for legal reasons but they explain many PC problems) intervene and frustrate the data stream and cause a crash from an unwelcome interrupt and I imagine running pure unfettered OS and game only will resolve the problem provided your video card is up to the job. Try setting your video card to run at much lower performance. My rule of thumb is the video card should be the major cost of any PC; should be current and as expensive as you can afford or indulge in and if you like gaming and for serious gaming think seriously about over clocking and using refrigeration or at least a very very well fanned out case designed for gaming specifically (or make your own-easy enough and can be its own heat sink as well) . Often a defluff clean of fans and heat sinks is overlooked and causes overheats particularly of video cards. Fans often fail on those as well so check for that and consider upgrading fans. Run RAM analysis as your memory might be unmatched or faulty; maybe overheating as that is frequently responsible as might be the video card memory. Plenty of free software available to run checks on CNET and similar. memory checks will take HOURS to do fully but maybe indicated. Try swapping RAM modules or removing one. Some motherboards can take ram but work better with paired or single modules only and then invariably run best quality ram. For gaming there are definitely gaming rigs and one make of processor is in my experience better than the other make because of superior architecture. (cannot name for legal reasons) For best game play have a dedicated hard drive-per-game running as I suggest; maintaining images as insurance to another drive. Desktop units will outperform any laptop particularly because of heat issues. You may need to update or regress your motherboard EPROM for best functionality; newest isn't always best. Always match motherboard to recommended CPU/s and if you want best performance build your own gaming machine or at least get one that is built specifically for it.
I concur the frustrations can lead to incorrect assumptions and regrettable outbursts, whatever background we have, so I have to add that I do hope that you can resolve issue. I doubt my advice will fail to resolve the issue and I have my own credentials in that arena as well so no slanging matches needed. MHO
I'm going to step in hear real quick.
