No sound or music ingame. Any help?

Well, I just bought the game today and after starting it I noticed that I do not have any ingame sound, like at all. The sound of the Ubisoft video plays perfectly, but I have no sound ingame. Could that be because I use headphones?

My soundcard is a soundblaster X-FI Extreme Audio and I run the game on Windows Vista Ultimate Edition. All other games, the sound works just fine. So any ideas whats up with that?

Just as a note, every other Steam game has sound and music, I tested it with New Vegas and DNF, its only Blood Dragon that has no sound whatsoever expect for the Ubi soft video at the beginning. Could the sample rate setting of my Soundcard be an issue? I recall that Starbase alpha had that issue.

You aren't alone on this one I've seen reports of no sound, or no music, or no dialogue, all over Steam.

Well, I plqayed around with the sample and bit rates of my soundcard but it does not yield any results, still no audio whatsoever. The only thing I didnt do yet is re-download the game.

One thing to try: If you have it set in game to 5.1 or 7.1 try lowering it to stereo.

Well, there are no ingame options for sound expect music on and off and master volume and setting the speakers using the Soundcard to Headphones did not yield and result. Its kind of odd.

Huh. Well other people have said that worked. Maybe they meant the setting in your soundcard utility.

I changed it in the soundcard utility from 5.1 to heradphones and nothing changed. Its the same utility where I changed the sample rate and bit rate at.
