Posting to FB is no different than posting to any Forum, FCMaps/Universe/Raptr, etc..
BUT this has absolutely nothing to do with the community, the only thing it has to do with is the fact you are TELLING (not even asking) people online to vote for your map (most of which probably don't even have Far Cry)

Your reference to Posting on FB and it being similar to FCU, FCMaps ect is bogus too as Facebook has a completely different community to the "Far Cry Based" websites which then I go back to the fact that many people on Facebook won't even have Far Cry but will still vote.

I am not only attacking you about it, because Fox is also cheating, giving others a disadvantage.

No 1 said to stop any of that. they only said u shouldnt tell friends on facebook to vote for your maps because they may not even play the game and if they do they would still vote for yours over others because u know them. If you do it that way at least tell them to join the voting poll and pick their favorite map ,that's how u get people involved. ( in a fair way)....cheater lol

Dapper the system is there to be abused - that is the way it is, anyone who has a lot of online friends and gets them to vote gets a better chance at Gold - I am sure a big percentage of people would not turn down votes and even if someone does ask others to sign up and vote should they have played or not played the game it is there for people to do.

I think looking at the numbers of people who have actually voted it is very dire - so either people don't give a crap - or they do not even know that this happens here.

One disturbing thing I take from this is that we appear to have virtually zero communication with whoever it is that puts maps on and off the list.

    1. It would be more beneficial IMO to nominate the bad maps off the list (or the ones which are not as popular with players)
    2. I personally would like to know how many are been taken off and would like to know if all platforms can have the same number of Gold Maps in their relevant playlists.
    3. Can we look at getting a simpler system that will not have all this drama each time
    4. I really would like to know the process on how long it takes to Take maps off the list / replace with newer ones & also if this can be done every month
    5. Is there any reason why all maps can't be replaced with new ones

I am now at the point where I believe FC3 is what it is and I am getting on with it, just reached 75 on PS3 and am slowly ranking up with some of the weapons and looking at getting those emblems - So I plan on putting some hours in over the coming months.

Also got back in the editor yesterday and have been looking over maps and jumping in playlists as well as the official maps - It would be nice to get some answers - Vextor can you get whoever it is that deals with that stuff to try and offer some options and solutions or is the Nominating and Voting as good as it will get ?

I like that its social, just like being able to create a map and sharing it is social just like playing it with someone else is social. Also, I don't agree with the statement that it isn't fair to tell people I am excited about Far Cry, and find ways to get them involved because they believe in me. What I think is wrong is making rules that constrict the communities ability to grow, it just seems silly. I love Far Cry and I want everyone to experience it. When I see a great movie, I talk about it, when I read a great book, I talk about it. When I learn some wisdom worth sharing, I do. When Far Cry 3 came out I bought 5 copies and gave them away so others could play. I won a UK code for some FC3 content and gave it away so the community could grow. I am interested in getting support here and I share through Facebook. Everyone reading this should join us, we even have a mapping group and discuss other games and level design methodologies. I do it and I am not ashamed.

I only ask that you try and look past the competitions and see there is a whole community of players here, not just mappers, please excersize some tolerance for those that are different, I am trying to share Far Cry with the world. (always have) The community is shrinking because of this kind of attack and lack of tolerance for each other, and I, thankfully, am very open minded and tolerant.
"Hey Everyone! You should check out this really great game where you can take creativity to the next level and play with friends on online multiplayer, its's called far cry 3! I play it myself and have a blast doing it, they have competitions for maps i and others make in which you can get to gold playlists, and even have a map search system for the map editor! Get it so we can all play it now!"

^that's how you should go about garnering support for far cry, not tell people who don't even have far cry that your map is superior, and should be voted for. Maybe when they have the game you can manipulate them how you see fit, but not when they have not even played your maps at-least.

It's not about constricting the rules, it's about making a fair playing field, not all people want to go on sites like facebook about competitions for map makers and far cry, because many have not played or never will play a far cry game and gathering there votes would hold a huge advantage for someone who is already a recognized artist, and stretching the purpose of this competition shouldn't allow you to come by more votes.

As for fox, i don't know if he actually did make multiple accounts or not, if there's a way to check i guess they should do it. Boxxer is still a great map though, if he did cheat, hopefully it appears in the next competition.

that's some good ideas in there! hopefully they can implement some, and make this competition more fun to participate in

not sure if there'll ever be a fair system though, because someone will find ways to manipulate it :/

I don't think it should be viewed as a competition - that is possibly why things get so out of hand - At the end of the day if a large majority can agree that the maps on Gold are ALL Quality then that should be all that matters - not who's maps they are or who thinks they are better than others that is one of the reasons why the FC Community is in shreds (whats left of the community anyway)

I want to have good matches on good maps when I join Gold - I couldn't give a toss who made them - If the map is bad they I suffer for the duration of the match hoping that Skip Map will be initiated.

A playlist is for Playing not a popularity contest - Lets work at getting this right - Those that want to promote can use the various Far Cry Fan Sites and the forums but lets try and be civil and get the balance right with these maps if we ever get a chance to have some replaced again.

Oddly there are very few of us that have actually done any detailed write ups on the map/s we nominated as to why we voted for one over the others - Maybe next time we should all put a little more effort in and work together on a more secure solution.

instead of having a poll, maybe vote with comments instead and why you voted for it, what gameplay elements you think were very creative, etc. Something like this?

    would be an awesome idea!
