Well I am utterly shocked...
I know 2 people who have taken part in this competition in an unfair way and I would like to share it as I find it completely unfair on the other legit maps that were nominated. I am going to name and shame the 2 people because this is one of the reasons we cannot have a close community round here and it is utterly pathetic.
1st we have x Fox o who is creating multiple accounts and voting for his own maps, I know this via word of mouth where he admitted he was doing this. (I really think IP addresses need to be checked on this)
2nd we have Neokinesis who was practically TELLING people over Facebook to vote for his own maps..
I have a screenshot below (taken his name and Picture off for confidentiality.
I am completely appalled and think we need a Completely new system for getting GOLD maps (even FC2's system of using hand-picked members of the community to do it was better)
I honestly don't care if I am being unfair for naming and shaming but I find it more unfair that other map makers who were nominated are losing out because of this.
Pathetic... (I am this angry and I wasn't even nominated, which says it all about how others who were would feel)
Can we not just have FALLEN CHAMP choose gold worthy maps from now on?
Oh, I almost forgot, Congratulations Ksmic, your map deserves the gold rank.![]()
There is no perfect way. But I do think there a lot better ways. Your right the game does not tell you how to make your maps gold. I have wrote some things on these forums about it. I think most of the people on the forums like it like this. Which is by no means fair.Originally Posted by DopeBoyFresh007 Go to original post
Some maps are highly liked but dont play well. So its hard to come up with the best way. Also if something takes effort, Ubi will not fix it. Lets hope fc4 will be better.
That above was the IP-Addys for one member (21 of them) The member does not have a map nominated in the Gold List but it is an example of how many PC's some have access to - or allow others to log into their accounts from other PC's.
Dapper there is no fair way of doing this and there never will be - if it carries on like this then people will complain that a lot of the same names are nominated - But anyone who has a quality map should get a shot at Gold - But then look at how many maps are on the list and how many quality builders there are around - It will always have an un-happy ending unfortunately.
One issue is that we can not contact the Community Manager / Developer so we have no one to liaise with on the subject plus why should they change their method that then looks like player power.
I personally think no one should ever have more than one map in the list and if their map gets nominated again then they should get a choice to put the new one up or stick with the one already on there.
I believe that all platforms should have the same number of maps available in Gold.
And I would also like to see Silver maps that get the most exposure / stats to be fed to us in a list one month before so those interested can look them over - comment on them and see if people can agree which ones are worthy of a place in Gold.
This takes many people who have to be honest and not bring any favoritism or disputes to the table and who are playing the maps for playability reasons first and foremost - If they stand up well then the visual aspect and other factors should be looked at - It is a big task that wears people down and no matter what people will moan and complain.
Just today I played 2 silver maps that were better than some on the PS3 Gold List - I think one was called The Quarry (it had a small area where terrain could be smoother & was small but was fun in a small room also) The other map had an odd name I want to know what it is to look it over in the editor.
It is hard to know how often Silver maps go on and off the list and some of these maps might never see the light of day again - As for Gold I think once a month all maps should be replaced with newer ones no matter how good they are.
I could not decide which maps are worthy - it takes many people to agree.
One other thing is how many on that nominated list actually play in Gold - I know I bumped into MotherBumper several days ago but then I am in an odd time zone and often miss people.
Another thing is that it would be interesting if people did not nominate via a poll but instead did it as a post with comments on why they like the map - That might put a cat among the pigeons for anyone who has not seen / played them but it would cause more grief no doubt as some would say "your on my FL and did not vote for me" So lets not go there.
@ Champ - I do agree, but I just find it unfair that people who are doing it legitimately are losing out to... well, Cheaters. I mean, making multiple accounts to vote for your own map is bad, but so is posting it on FACEBOOK, telling people to vote for them.
I know you couldn't decide, but I still think it would be better than the current system.

I think FB is a great way to share with others, things I am thinking about and things I am excited about. I comment on Blood Dragon and FC3 FB fanpage almost daily (and have for a long time). and as a result have met some really awesome FC fans in the community. I like that its social, just like being able to create a map and sharing it is social just like playing it with someone else is social. Posting to FB is no different than posting to any Forum, FCMaps/Universe/Raptr, etc..
Also, I don't agree with the statement that it isn't fair to tell people I am excited about Far Cry, and find ways to get them involved because they believe in me. What I think is wrong is making rules that constrict the communities ability to grow, it just seems silly. I love Far Cry and I want everyone to experience it. When I see a great movie, I talk about it, when I read a great book, I talk about it. When I learn some wisdom worth sharing, I do. When Far Cry 3 came out I bought 5 copies and gave them away so others could play. I won a UK code for some FC3 content and gave it away so the community could grow. I am interested in getting support here and I share through Facebook. Everyone reading this should join us, we even have a mapping group and discuss other games and level design methodologies. I do it and I am not ashamed.
I like Far Cry and I want others to know this about me, and enjoy it like I do. It is no different than being born a certain race, or have a certain faith, it just is who I am. I like to make things and share them.
I am happy with FC3 because it allows me to make things and share them with my friends. I am glad to have had the time to create some really great maps, and even happier to have awesome friends who are willing to stand up and get involved, join my matches and play on my maps, join the forums here and vote.
I only ask that you try and look past the competitions and see there is a whole community of players here, not just mappers, please excersize some tolerance for those that are different, I am trying to share Far Cry with the world. (always have) The community is shrinking because of this kind of attack and lack of tolerance for each other, and I, thankfully, am very open minded and tolerant.![]()
For the legitimately of gold map voting, Ubi should look into the votes to see if the voters even have uplay with fc3. Just remove them votes. But that takes effort. So Im sure that will not happen.
Neo you have to admit some people could make fake accounts. So how is that fair. Its great that you promote the game on facebook.
