    Great Realistic map

    Somewhat realistic map*

Check out this map. It is currently a bronze map, but has the potential to make it to silver or even gold. It's a medium sized map, based on an island. good layout, decent visuals, fun gameplay

    Map name: WORKDAYWASTELAND

    Now a silver map

your title did the trick, it got my attention, but ultimately it is a lie, im sorry to say. what im about to say may sound harsh, but that is just my way. i dont like to beat around the bush or candy coat things so please take this as constructive criticism as that is the intention.

first of all i cant see anything realistic about your map other than that it virtually exists. it needs way more polish to be realistic. there is no theme to your map other than island. the objects on the map seem to be there for no reason other than to have something there. very rarely does it take 30 minutes or less to create a realistic map and this map can be replicated almost to a T in 30 minutes or less.

your island is split in half and joined by a single bridge. as a rule of thumb in map making it is never a good idea to have only 1 route to any area. this 1 bridge will turn your map into a snipe or camp fest. the vertical terrain surrounding the bridge should be rock and not sand at the very least. sand does not behave that way. that would make it more realistic looking but not improve the map overall. the vertical terrain actually needs to be smoothed so it can be traversed. its no fun and bad for gameplay to have to swim for more than a few seconds.
the cave is completely unnecessary. at the very least it should have been created with rocks and not cave peices to be more realistic. also stalagtites/mites do not form in caves eroded by tides which is the only possible way the cave could have been created.
why are there so many wrecked vehicles on this little tiny island in the middle of nowhere? why is there an airplane in a hangar with no place for the plane to take off?

there is more you could do to improve this map which lost soldier already said in a reply to your post in his thread so i wont bother repeating it but it was good advice,

    keep on mappin!

It's now called workdaywasteland and if you would have cared to look around more there is also a cave that connects both islands
and I have also added more cover and detail to it

    Map name: WORKDAYWASTELAND

It's fine I appreciate the feedback, I apologize if I seemed a bit snarky on the reply. I just wanted to give map making a try. This is the only far cry I have ever played, and the first map I have made. I don't plan on being a graphic designer in this lifetime, but I was fairly happy with how it turned out. Please do check it out again, it is quite fun to play that map with 4 on 4 teams or more. I haven't had the problem of people camping on either side of the bridge just yet

Next time you probably shouldn't say "Great Realistic Map" for your first foray into map making..... Always under-promise, over-deliver rather than vice-versa.

Anyway, Saint_Simian started out by saying you should take it as constructive criticism and he made some excellent points. You responded by picking one thing out of the 15 that he mentioned and barked he should pay attention because he missed that one thing.

And the thing he mentioned about the bridge is CRUCIAL. It's best to have at least 3 ways in/out of major areas, but 2 will suffice. No one likes to be super exposed on bridges.
