SP..ok..MP..Coop..SUCK...
FC1 the BEST of the 3....
I'd thought game reviewers would be more critical, considering the problems with the game are the same old problems.
Forced long scenes that must be replayed? What is the point of that? To cover the shamefully long reload times?
Terrible save game system only makes it worse.
And as far as the acclaimed story and acting ... pffft I can only assume that reviewers are either paid in one way or another, or that they grew up with crappy writing and acting ...
The latter is probably the case.
The strength of a game lies in allowing the player to be himself - don't force me to be a **** or to be evil.
You think gamers don't want to be heroes? They can only be what you give them a chance to be.
The hero story may seem trite and old fashioned ... but ten I look at the descriptions of some items in the game and some peripheral dialog ..and it seems that the writers approve of bestiality rape murder and general perversion.
Well, I suppose one can't expect an epic heroic quest from those who are focused only on what will get attention.
Our attention is grabbed by the perverted, evil and dangerous ...but our minds and bodies have evolved that way so we do not look away from it but lock to it ... to avoid it or fight it.
So..most media is going this way..not understanding and/or caring about what people really want, but only giving them what they can't help responding to ... but taking away the option to fight it and leaving only the choice to join it ..
I am hoping to ignore the cognitive dissonance and get my money's worth ... the multiplayer is quite a step backwards from FC2.
Congrats to the developers, brings the FPS/Action game genre to a new level. However, I still think the game would have been better if a certain mod that is floating around out there was permanently part of the game, taking away the tagging of enemies etc..blah blah blah... they should try not to deliver a digital product aimed at typical 14 yr olds with only elementary school education...
I know a lot of people didn't like FC2. The biggest complaints were that it was not a continuation of the first game, there was not enough "life" in the game (people and animals) and that the checkpoints re-spawned too quickly. But the actual gameplay and controls as well as the combat were spot on. FC3 hosed all the good things found in FC2 and to add salt to the wound, automated so much of the gameplay it completely destroys what little immersion there is.
I don't know what was used as a basis for the award. I can only assume it was something based on a casual gamer's expectations and not anything critically constructive. Personally I find FC3 receiving the award laughable and telling. If this is any indication of what is considered a high quality game then gaming overall has become seriously watered down. A shame really.
