    Copied map?

I'm a bit flattered but also a bit uncomfortable. Another player copied my map Bloodfeud and cahnged a bunch of stuff. I prefer mine and it's much more polished but i'm a little torn. he has named his Bloodfeud_redux

Any thoughts? should i be upset or just let it go?

    sorry to hear that

did they download your map, then used ur map and published it? sometimes there will be the persons name who uploaded it, but the original author stays on the map.

This has happened to me twice on farcry 2 and while one map was untouched but different author, the other was butchered with wrong textures, spawns were misplaced and gameplay was unfair for the other team. They kept the name i had originally made for the map too.

This was a bit of mixed emotions as it can be flattering, but also hurtful to the original authors vision. But what your guy did is what i would find of an "admirer" to your work. Moved stuff around AND changed the name of the map is better than changing stuff around and KEEPING the same map name. And was nice of him to reference his map to the original by throwing in "REDUX". Some people like a change of pace with gameplay like if they like the map but the map is way too big.

hey assfat! You know **** well I play test maps when asked and spend my online FC3 time in bronze maps and now I check the beta maps. The thing that annoys me is that I have to get friends to play. If I make a public game no one will ever connect. Might be my geographic location and ping times.

yeah, i tried the beta bs too. its a joke. its the same as we had to do before. they just gave it a name "beta" to trick some ppl into thinking they did something over at massive. maybe ill see you later and do some testing. old school style(like last week) hehehe

I think people should respect the authors of maps and leave them alone. Stealing a map and changing a few bits here and there and calling it their own is just useless. If they have suggestions, they can contact the author, otherwise they can make their own map from scratch. I think you should kill them!

It was said months before release that our maps would be locked as default.

19.(Q) - Can we lock our maps from being edited by others?

    (A) "- Yes, this is now the default."

Unfortunately it never happened but even going back to the question if they had been locked as default would there have also been an option to unlock them for others to share and work on, that is how it would have worked best - I also think that if a map is set to locked that it should not be available to open in the map editor, this keeps the authors work personal to them and when they create something special it just keeps others guessing and wondering how they did it and what items were used - It kind of took the edge off things in FC2 when you could just go in and look over peoples work but at the same time I can see how it can be helpful - give us the option next time it will keep everyone happy and keep the thieves and *** holes away.

Now this I do agree on, I find it stupid how people can STEAL others creations and claim it is theirs. Even developers have had issues with it by publishing the wrong Version of a map for gold playlists, kind of strange how this has not been added into the game.

Dapper can you remember back before release there was a mention that we could even play around with their maps and change things - Some of those Ubisoft Maps have different things not just Ziplines and Gun Turrets but also some smoke emitting from one building and a box fan on the side of another (I am sure there is more stuff)

If they had allowed us to edit their maps then those items would have had to be available to us for them to show up in the editor.
