Hello!
This is my first posting in this forum and while I have been posting a lot in other gaming forums a posting like this one is quite new to me. But first things first...
I started gaming back in the NES and Mega Drive era and was always a huge fan of platformers like Sonic and Mario. To be honest I never really liked Shooters. Most of them had no appeal to me because the characters were dull, the story non-existing or irrelevant and I was never attracted by violence. In the last years my interest in gaming diminished more and more and I already thought I was just getting too old for this medium...
But then, in December 2012, I decided to buy Far Cry 3, because the colorful island had a huge appeal to me. And what can I say... this purchase was one of my best gaming decisions for a long, long time. I enjoyed every single second of the game! The graphics are absolutely beautiful, the crafting got me hooked immediately and made the exploration of the isle much more enjoyable. But most important: The game has a great story and amazing characters. While I loved roaming around the Island I always wanted to know how the story progresses and to see certain characters again - especially Vaas and Citra.
Vaas is charismatic and just fun to watch and listen. On the other side I also really wanted to kill him. Citra had an extraordinary appeal to me and I know this sounds kinda silly since I am an adult. But I just could not resist her way she talked, behaved and looked and I was always looking forward seeing her again.
That was probably also the reason why I was so impressed by the ending. I decided to stay at Citras side and while I know that is morally more than questionable I had the feeling this is the right decision for me. I was really kinda shocked what happened to Jason (aka "me") even though I kinda understand Citras way of thinking. Especially the last moment, where I slowly close my eyes and Citra tells me "You won" really made me thoughtful for quite some time.
The whole game, but especially the end, which kinda touched me are the reason I am writing this huge posting. I wanted to show my appreciation to all the people who have realized this game. You not only entertained me throughout the whole game (even though I never liked shooters) - you achieved to raise some emotions while I was playing (especially at the ending). And this is probably the biggest achievement a game can ever make. This is the first time ever in my life I am writing something like this to the developers of a game but I felt the urge to show all of you guys at Ubisoft Montreal my appreciation for creating this outstanding piece of art!
Sincerely,
Florian
