Do you know a game called farcry 2 where you can easy play all your custom maps?Originally Posted by JedMosley81 Go to original post
Yes I am inclined to agree with escaperazor. I too can see that progress is being made to improve FC3 its just that it isn't tackling all the issues we are reporting. A personal opinion but the most basic thing to sort out is communication. Allowing headsets/mics to be usable will maybe increase the number of users again. I know a few players who left the FC3 MP straight away and sold their copies of FC3 simply because they couldn't communicate with one another. That is all it took for them to dismiss FC3 for good. Would they return knowing that audio is fixed? Probably not if it was the only issue resolved because its a little too late for them. Would it have kept them playing FC3 had the issue not been there in the first place? Yes, it probably would have done because as a group of friends, communicating is part of the experience and can make a game experience better even if there are other issues to contend with.
Sorry to see you go Chris. Just so everyone knows, the community and Ubi will be losing the absolute BEST video producer and promoter of Far Cry custom mapping and tutorials. Very generous of you to showcase community maps as you did. Hopefully you will stick around to see where they are going with these lobbies.
Haven't played FC3 or edited for last few weeks. Without public lobbies and hosting options i have no motivation to make maps or promote others. Unless of course Vex indicates they are working to add them back. This last update mentions neither one. Everyone's jumping ship because the catastrophic leak caused by a design flaw is not getting the immediate attention of the captain and crew. Community's freaking out, yelling and pointing at the large gape in the hull. But the Devs are too busy working on less critical areas that should wait until AFTER the larger issues are addressed to keep the **** ship from sinking.
Clearly Ubi Montreal did not consider the existing community at all for FC3. Montreal must listen to many ideas for continuing the franchise and improving it. Just shocked they signed off on a new MP for Far Cry that did not draw upon the strengths and weaknesses of the previous versions. It's like Massive was allowed to completely re-invent the wheel. Since they weren't involved in the community, they came up with something square shaped.
FCI:P and FC2 have largely been considered hands down to have the best in-game sandbox level editors around. Nothing competes with them, not even today. FC3 was expected to improve upon the industry standard that Ubi itself created. So sad to see them dropping the ball on possibly their most innovative contribution to the gaming industry. Level editing and hosting is much more enjoyable than playing most games for me personally. Why doesn't Ubi have a representative or two from the mapping community that can show them what we do? It's like we are now having to educate them about their own product.
It's an oversight that could be forgiven if there was a clear indication that they understood and are focusing on replacing what was lost. If they did that, i'm sure some of us would hang in there and support FC3. The game and editor were released too early anyway. So if Massive needs more time to complete the lobby system, not a problem. But if they don't intend on it, they need to indicate that up front.
Best post ive read this week! 100% spot on imoOriginally Posted by SupaScoopa_ Go to original post
Well, I am with escaperazor. After waiting that long for the announcement, I am disappointed. Still no lobby and still unable to host a playlist of maps. Yes it is a small step in the right direction it is still far away from what we have been asking for.
I do like the option to reset outposts though, but my main concern was multiplayer and custom map lobbies.
If u were to read my second post you will see that i admitted to not playing fc2 mp, therefore having no comparisonOriginally Posted by II_PRAETORIAN_II Go to original post
Not sure where some people get the idea that MP is more important than the SP campaign. The single-player mode is the main reason this game won so many critical accolades last year, is the biggest part of the game in terms of size and production, and is the only part of the game developed by Ubisoft Montreal (the MP portion was off-loaded to Ubisoft Massive).Originally Posted by escaperazor Go to original post
In all the previous entries in the Far Cry series, the single-player mode has always been the main focal point of development.
I'm most happy about the new "Master" difficulty setting. As a long-time Far Cry fan, my only real disappointment with the game would be the lack of real challenge. If they do this Master difficulty setting right, and make it truly hardcore and extreme--as is in the spirit and tradition of the Far Cry franchise--then Far Cry 3 could be elevated to the status of being one of my favorite FPS titles ever.
Right now, STALKER 3 holds that distinction, with its combination of hardcore, unrelenting AI, tactical survival gameplay, and a beautifully rendered open-world setting.
But it has been the MP and Map Editor that have had this community staying strong for many years, so community wise, the MP and Map Editor are FAR more important than the games single player. I mean, look at FC2, people were saying that game was for its SP, but there was no real story to it (kind of like FC3 is) but the community mainly comes from the games Map Editor, the map editor on this game is as important as the track editor is on trials evolution. 75% of people will not buy Far Cry if there was no map editor and if the system set in place for map makers doesn't work properly, and hasn't since launch, then many people are just going to send the game back (kind of like what is happening now)Originally Posted by Staticks Go to original post
Ubisoft really do need to start listening to the Community's main issues on Far Cry 3 to even consider a success with FC4. They got lucky after giving little support on FC2 as Ubi were given a 2nd chance. I can assure that 80% of map makers will not get the next game if issues are not fixed for the 2nd time in a row.
