    Times They are A Changing

I won't go into specifics but I thought people here might like to know there are changes happening right now in how a game is developed and brought to market that should please A LOT of people. Search around on the Internet and you will find it. It appears not all developers are interested in producing games like FC3 just for the casual gamer or consoles/ports. Anyone who played computer games in the mid 80's to late 90's should certainly be pleased. Take heart folks! Let's hope we are witnessing a new trend in gaming. It's about time.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but with such sad sales numbers I doubt this will catch on. Only 0.44M on PC, and only 1.5M per console might sound great until you take a look at the ARMY of Devs that *supposedly* all got paid for this half-finished game. Take into consideration the cost of licensing nearly all their modules (Realtree, Havok, console rights, etc) and they made a little money, but not enough to warrant making something this badly again.

So nope, sorry, it was a good effort though.

The cost of developing games, how they are developed, by whom, and how they are published is going to change. It is changing already. Most people just don't realize it yet because they don't look past their nose long enough to see what's really going on. Gaming has been going through a period of consolidation over the past decade or so. Lots of game genres have all but disappeared because of this. There are types of games that many young people today are not even aware of having existed because all they see is this "epic game" crap with pretty graphics.

As a recent example, "Halo: Combat Evolved" was a good game. Look what it's turned into...nothing but a cash cow. It's treated like a major blockbuster movie complete with toys at the fast food chains. BF and COD are exactly the same. There's no creativity in games anymore...they just need to be epic (and pretty...and multi-player). There are a lot of people who want to play intelligent, challenging computer games. No, they are not the majority but that's to be expected. The majority of anything is always the average...the mundane...the "just enough to get by" group. Sorry and no offense but that is a fact.
