Patches - can they be archived to avoid re-downloading?

Is there any way to keep patch files so that if I remove FC3 now, but re-install it at a later date, I can simply apply the patch without needing to download it all over again? The patches are rather big.

The version I have on disk is 1.01 (I think), and the version I just finished playing was 1.04.

Great game by the way. I'm still fascinated by the 3D scenery.

Hi, you can only create a backup when you download the patch but before install it, go to the Users\appdata\local\temp and copy the ubitemp.exe to another location, rename it if you want, next time you dont need to download again, most ubisoft patches delete them selfs after the installation.

What I did was download the 1.04 patch stand alone install file.
Later installed the game off DVD as per normal but didn't run Uplay or the game exe after install and then ran the 1.04 patch.
No download required and could play immediately.

No patch file remains in my Users\appdata\local\temp folder (as expected) but I got the stand-alone patch 1.04 from http://far-cry.ubi.com/fc-portal/en-AU/downloads/index.aspx

    Thanks for your help.
