Whirlwind Fighter Project
Hi...
Been some time since I was last here, use to be known as Archie Calvert, or further back still as Secudus...
Thought I would show what we've been up to the past 2 years...
Here's our solidworks Westland Whirlwind as she is now, we've got her to within 1/8" of the original and will start cutting metal this summer...

Been a long time since collecting material for the IL-2 Whirlwind, but am pleased to be involved with the Whirlwind Fighter Project team with the help of AgustaWestland Archive in recreating this lost fighter...

Well it nearly was, but the IL-2 Whirlwind ran out of steam because of lack of info... Shame, but Oleg wanted detail that we just couldn't find at that point in time. Funny where stuff turns up, we've even got plans from the states!
There's alot going on and we have fingers in so many pies it hard to keep track of everything, there's plans a foot to go and explore some Whirly crash sites that still have aircraft as the site was deemed to difficult to retrieve them...
AIB reports have been invaluble in our research, some of the images enable us to see bit's of the internal structure that would otherwise be only guessed at as no drawing have been found. By the time we've finished we'll have a hell of a story to tell...
Talking of the IL-2 Whirly, heres something you might like...
