How to use the fullpotential of the Assassin's Creed (Ezio Trilogy) combat system

After countless hours of experimentation I just about mastered all of the hidden kinks in the combat system. I personally enjoyed the combat in AC2 before adding kill streaks in brotherhood, making combat effortless requiring no further skill whatsoever. They do somewhat fix that in Revelations with the Janissaries but that's getting off topic. There remain a few glitches in ac2 that can also be used to your advantage but that's all up to you if you want to do that. Well without further ado lets get started.

    Hidden Blade
The first thing just about no one knows about is what the hidden blade can really do. Remember that demo where you saw Ezio stab a guy in the stomach multiple times. Everyone awaits seeing that cool animation in the game but few ever see it. What if I told you you could execute that animation multiple times in succession? its not luck but an actual move with the hidden blade that people never know about. Remember the strong attacks in the first ac installment Altair could do with his sword? A similar button scheme is used with special weapons such as long and heavy weapons, throwing knives, etc. Unbeknownst to most the hidden blade as a strong attack as well. If you hold down the square/X button Ezio does a stronger attack and if you look closely you'll notice it. Your enemy must be weakened for this to be executed successfully with only 1-2 squares of health left. note: this works on all enemy types. Ezio will then execute three possible animations:

A slit in the neck with both blades
He'll jump at the enemy with his standard arm thrown up in the air ( kind of like when your chasing down someone)
The infamous belly stab in the trailer no one ever sees

    Swordplay
And if your not interested in hidden blade combat and your all for the traditional sword combat there are secrets with them that you might not know about either. Sadly this strategy doesn't work on brutes but you know those helmet wearing guards that can counter your counters? Well there is a way to instakill them as well. If you doge to the side after they swing at you than strike them twice from the side they will be killed by an animation.(This sometimes works with your fists too.)

    Hand-to-Hand Combat

Speaking of fists there is a quick way of taking opponets out this way as well. This also works in all of Ezio's trilogy as well so this is good to remember especially when grinding money in the fighting arena in the mercenary headquarters basement in brotherhood. Remember when you learned how to throw sand? Many people forget about it myself included. Well if you manage to throw sand at your adversary with out getting punched in the face one punch will kill them with a cool animation. Also if you throw someone to the ground, wait for them to get up and get behind them and that will take them out instantly as well. Strong attacks also work like with the hidden blade if you get them weak enough. Along with disarming this fighting style gets really fun once you get the hang of it.

    Incognito High Profile
One thing many people don't realize is that they can perform high profile kills from hiding spots, and this applies to all AC games. The same way you perform basic high profile kills while in high profile on a bench or in a bale of hay you can kill targets who would be otherwise out of reach. Sure you will have completely left your hiding spot and you don't hide you target after killing them if you cant reach them with low profile this can be very helpful.

Descending from Rooftops using people as cushions/Tackling
One thing I always found missing in climbing rooftops is getting back down. Sure you can drop down and continuously grab ledges but that's slow and doesn't feel natural. If you press circle in high profile at the edge of a building, if someone is below you Ezio will pounce on them for a safe landing (Works depending on how high up you are) If your in air assassinate range this will work. This is useful for catching Borgia messengers and pickpockets without killing them. Speaking of which if you didn't already know how to do this you can tackle people to the ground my double tapping the circle/A button in high profile. They fix landing in AC3 where the same pounce action will work regardless of whether a NPC is beneath you or not.

    Ground Kills
Obviously whether throwing, tackling or pouncing on someone you can kill him with the hidden blade. This works with other weapons but back up first or you'll just start kicking them in the nuts. And well if your playing AC3 you can air assassinate with any weapon anyways.

There is easier way to trigger finishing animations that does not require you to reduce enymy's health amost to zero. Combo kills. Strike 3-4 times without enemy blocking your blows, then stop briefly and finally attack again. If done right Ezio will perform finishing move on his target regardless of its current health.

You were right about that, its just the reducing health strategy is a surefire way to do it and is easier to execute as getting multiple hits in succession only works on weaker enemies most of the time.
