Yea I thought a gold map playlist was a good idea too until you think about it for more than a couple minutes (the attention span for 5 years olds and obviously Ubisoft developers) you come up with the game being worse than it could have been.

So since Ubisoft clearly didnt think about what they were doing we end up with this:
Bronze, silver playlists empty
0 people playing bronze playlist (as of typing this)
11 people playing silver playlist (as of typing this)
67 people playing gold playlist (as of typing this)
220 people playing on xbox 360 spread out on all game modes. Good chance you wont find a match in a game mode you like.
Not even one full lobby in silver and a couple full lobbies in gold. So now its even harder for someone to get their map reviewed without asking people to play with you and not wanting to because they dont earn xp while in a private match and the bronze playlist is almost always empty.

Numerous map errors
You know what I hate most about playing any custom map? Getting stuck between objects and not being able to move the whole match and its sad how it happens on "The best player made maps". (Crops and Oil Arsenic just so you know)
Spawn camping. Heres what you should do; make it mandatory for 15 red/blue spawns SO THEY ARE THE BEST PLAYER MADE MAPS

Gold map voting WHAT?!?
Seriously I just found out this week. Great way to tell people; Make them search the forum, then tell them there is a vote going on.

What they should have done:
Wait a month
ACTUALLY PLAY THE MAPS
Review silver player maps AND SUGGESTED MAPS (if you waited a month you would have a good amount of well made silver maps)
SHOW A MESSAGE(when people play the game, while at the main menu or something) THAT THERE IS A VOTE GOING ON FOR GOLD MAPS
Wait until you get about 50 or so eligable maps (not sure if you do already)
If all of the maps are complete horse**** just say so because thats how I feal about Crops (god I hope the creater doesnt read this post).
Create the playlist after 5 maps are picked.

Maybe Im just a flamer. BUT WHEN YOUR BEING SPAWN CAMPED ON CROPS TWO GAMES IN A ROW AND CONSTANT HOST MIGRATIONS YOUD BE FLAMING TOO.

So Ubisoft if you are still reading even after the first sentence heres what you should do now that you did this early:
1. Remove Crops and other maps that have few/bad spawns and tell them to fix it.
Or... Remove the playlist until a future date and mix the gold maps with the silver maps
2. Making voting every 2 weeks
3. Make it noticeable to people that there is a vote for gold maps
4. Only hold votes/review the map when there is at a minimum of 50 or so maps

I can sympathize with your post, the system is broken, no one here argues that.
I've also argued for a better system, even now there's issues where maps that get voted to silver drop back to bronze again. I think its intentional so it rotates things a bit more, good in theory but once that map hits bronze again its lost regardless of whether people like playing it.

I think you should mention the map faults in oil arsenic to neokinesis btw, i don't do the console thing but from what i seen of his maps i think he'd like to know so he can fix it. For the most part most maps displayed in this forum are made by guys who aren't satisfied untill a map is perfected,to the point where maps are sometimes never really finished .

I don't even bother playing gold playlist anymore because the only maps that ever came up were crops and contain day which I'm confused how a map consisting of 100 shipping crates is considered gold in the first place. Those are seriously the only maps that come up for me on that playlist and it gets real old quick. Good thing I'm getting dead space 3 in the morning because this game isn't going to be fun again anytime soon.

The gold map voting was just one way of getting maps into Gold. It's obvious that not everyone got the message.
We are looking into several ways of filling the gold list. But we did want to give the community some input on this.

Regarding whether or not you like a map. Don't worry. Once the gold list has been filled (we are aiming somewhere in the region of 20 maps, maybe a few more) we will start voting maps OUT of the Goldlist. So if you feel that a map is bad, you will get to have your say in the future.

I understand the direction you have gone with the Playlists but this stuff does take up resources and I would guess can be a huge pain in the butt at times.
We were always lead to believe that the Gold Maps would be hand picked by the team but now part of this is a vote by the community which is all well and good if everyone is honest, but there has and will always be conflict among some people and there has and will always be cheating.

So we have no fool proof system, people could create multiple accounts on different PC's to vote (this has happened many times over the years on fan websites with all the far cry games - there is no way of stopping it)

Also the popularity thing - this person is on my friends list, this person does not like that person - I must vote for their map and not the one I think plays better as that won't go down very well. Again - it happens in some cases and there is no way of stopping it.

I would say with the next game just scrap all this stuff, Free up the resources for more important stuff which will in turn free you guys up from all the drama - let those in the community sort out their own stuff, I would rather see a good map hosted by others many times online than never see it hosted but find out that the map has a lot of ratings and stats.

It is impossible to keep everyone happy so why try, the early Far Cry games didn't have all these ratings systems in place, instead the map makers would host their own maps to get them out there. Then Far Cry 2 came along and it was all about Downloads / Ratings and getting on the Ubi Recommended List, lots would only host their own maps and this IMO ruined the friendliness of the game as it became more of a competition for some.

Now with FC3 we have a dodgy rating system - No Thanks / Like etc

I just hope the next game goes back to basics and is fun to play and can be enjoyed.

Don't get me wrong but I feel to tell this.

Gold map lists are prepering with nominations. Okay, But really do you think all maps in Gold list deserving being a Gold map? If I'm a good understanding and have a good criticism so I will say there is a lot of non detailed and flat maps are being Gold. So I found true a list for it at least. I will share this list and this list is deserving much more than gold at least. (Some of them allready in Gold tier)

- Blood Bowl

- Prepare for Invasion

- M101_Neon_Complex

They are made by awesome and talented players. I aprreciate them and I'm saying.. Also there is more detailed and fair play maps but I don't remember their names. I just say.. Just think, really a map criteria is really good enough for Gold tier? and don't say me these maps choiced from nominations. I don't believe that.

i agree champ........and btw why would people nominate better maps then their own....then they wont stand a chance to make it gold..

think the most fair is that UBI mappers pick the best maps....that are suggested on this forum (no matter who nominates them, other wise it will be again, who can motivate there contacts to nominate contest)... and the ubi mappers probably see it in one look if the maps that is suggested is gold or not....so it wont take up much of their time i guess....

vextor you said your aim is for 20 maps.....i think thats not much....will there be a rotation?....if 20, i hope so......lets say the 10 gold maps with the lowest play/vote ratio with in a week...will be replaced by some new once every week...so many have their change of glory


and please....only add gold maps who are really kick ***......if i want to play average maps...i play silver

and...dont make this topic a pick me, pick me or my friends topic...
