So the day youre SUPPOSED to announce the winners, you decide to stop accepting submissions. Then proceed to tell us you'll get around to actually following through with your commitment in a few days or weeks... Who knows...
Why even bother with dates if you guys clearly have no plans to even DO this contest? Stop wasting everyone's time.
Its REALLY screwed up that you guys think your time is worth so much more than your customers. Seriously guys, just stop pretending you have any plans to support user maps. It's been pretty clear you don't.
Why would anyone doing a comp accept submissions on the day they announce the winners? That doesn`t make sense! Clearly you are mixed up on that score. Also, they stopped accepting submissions on the 4th of Jan way before they were to announce anything.Originally Posted by AnEastonfection Go to original post

My bad... it was edited on the 8th... 4 days after it was supposed to be closed. As today is supposed to be the day for the winners, clearly theyve not followed through.
Amazing people question where I got my info... Hmmmm... who'd of thought to look a few posts above at the official post?
They didnt even bother deleting the old post. So they have conflicting info on their own post.
Making maps takes time. Hopefully they plan to support FC3 with updates and additions long into the future, so a competition that runs this long might not seem like much in future.
On the other hand the lack of communication with community on just about every aspect of the game is kind of disappointing. Okay, minor patches we've had before Christmas, I don't think anything major has been added or improved, and the meat and potatoes of multiplayer, the custom playlists, are a mess, and need improving. The game is full of speedhackers and whatever else and is basically unprotected, the host migration induces crazy bugs, and the p2p lag is not very well detected. It's a fun game though so we keep on playing. That is... when the UPlay servers aren't broken. And the map editor is powerful even if it could do with some additional features, so creating maps is an enjoyable process even if they rarely seem to get played.
I don't mind that it takes time to properly fix these things if they are fixing them but I hate it when developers give players the silent treatment. From a huge studio it's a bit farcical, given that indie devs with one main man and a handful of several others scattered around the world give DAILY updates and all but live on their forums, doing things for the fans.
Single player is great. Multiplayer is good. Good gameplay, a bit rough around the edges but has huge potential. Realise the potential and we'll be very happy and play this game for years. Yes, years. Go cold on us and we'll have forgotten it by easter.
its funny to me how many people ***** about stuff like this, the fact is that they are working on fixing bugs, creating new content, and probably starting the next project, and that isn't to mention taking a bit of a break. Game development isn't easy like so many of you seem to think and my guess is that for the past 3 months leading up to the release of this game you probably had at least 90% of the team working 12 16 hour days 5 to six days a week.
Bottom line is the fact that they even held the contest says that they give a ****, granted yeah it is lower on the priority list for them but hey I think I would rather have things like stability issues resolved and improved match making but whatever I guess that makes me crazy.
Edit: while I typed this they did respond on what is going on apparently there were over 350 maps entered which is a lot for them to go through and they saying the finalist on jan 14 or 15
Thats just ridiculous. Sure, developing a game is time consuming, but to say difficult is really ignorant. It's about as "difficult" as me sitting here typing this post. Try working a 12 hour shift at a job where you are physically involved and then try to feel sorry for them. LOTS of people work hard, that doesn't excuse lack of customer service. To say they've been fixing anything is totally overstating your case. Only MINOR things have been fixed so far. The community has done their job with mods in less than half the time when it comes to fixing this game.Originally Posted by Thraxus360 Go to original post
What bothers everyone most though, is the complete lack of communication on their part. They've still not even come out to admit that the entire map sharing system needs to be redone. I highly doubt they will, since it would seem it was set up in the first place to keep them from having to be involved in the process.
I'm not going to go into the single player in this game, but the multiplayer was released completely unready. I have no pity for these guys that get paid GOOD money to sit in chairs all day, while I spend $60 of my hard earned money on an incomplete broken product.
I wouldn't buy a toaster and then feel sympathy for the toaster maker when it doesn't work. I bought a product, I expect a functioning one. If that can't be provided, then I expect some customer service. I don't feel thats asking too much.
