[OT] Future of Far Cry multiplayer - Discussion

I'm watching the FC3 MP trailer right now and I'm trying to figure out what I'm looking at.
There are plenty of features and to be honest, they look great. I was a COD fan and I can say that I would rather play FC3 MP than any COD.

Btw, I really like Firestorm mode.If you look at the MP, both COD and FC are very similar, but SP is much diffrent. When I've stared playing FC2, I figured out that I want to play that kind of MP.
Some people say that the game is too empty, It's need work, but I love and I finished Far Cry 2 three or 4 times and I'm thinking about replaying that game again.Compare FC2 with the FC3 and you'll get one of the biggest improvements ever.

And I'm asking myself, why aren't we playing that kind of MP? If single player is all about open world, side quests, vehicles, animals... everything, why couldn't multiplayer be like that? I'm not playing Skyrim or World of Warcraft, but I would like to see some elements of that MP in FC universe.

All we need are bigger maps. We have map editor and let us create our own outposts, place guards, animals and similar stuff and make our own survival game or should I say, our own Far Cry game.
Everything else can be the same as in FC3, ranking, new weapons and items.Or as in FC2, you have 2 factions and some players work for one side, others for another one.

Like I said, I don't play WOW or Skyrim, so I don't know much about it, but I'm sure that this open world multiplayer would be much better than this one. Of course, Firestorm and other modes are very cool and we should keep it.
    What do you think?

Red Dead is an open world multiplayer, to but it simply it has one of the best systems of player with pals and mates of any game ive ever played.

Its worth picking it up and having a go its really cheap here in UK and hopefully not expensive in Bosnia.

I'll take a look. Thanks for the advice.
Anyway what do you think about future of FC3 mp? Would you like to see something like Red Dead Redemption or?

For me the biggest problem is the comms on PS3 then the lobby system and lack of being able to create a proper custom playlist.

I would be happy if they could just fix this tbh but yeah red dead style openworld mp would have been great but its never going to happen post release imo.

I was told something about the engine that FC3 runs off that would restrict large, open. Basically the engine can't cope with large maps. In single player there's a workaround where instead of moving the player you actually move the whole world around the player to create the illusion that the player is moving. But obviously, this won't work in multiplayer, because if you're in a 16 player game, then moving the world around a player would also mean moving 15 other players, but what's the point in that when you could just move one? So because of that, this method isn't used in multiplayer, so the maps can't be too big.

Of course, the editor space itself isn't terribly small, so it can't be too much of an issue,

Again, I can't say for sure how true that is. It's just what I've been told a couple of times.

I don't know how, but I've seen a server in Far Cry 2 with 20 players.
As for the engine, I'm talking about the next FC, which will probably be on next generation of consoles, such as PS4 and X720. They'll probably make new engine for they new game.

8 vs 8 is in one hand small amount of players, but in the other, it's enough for the map size as in FC.

Sadly I think you are right.
