As of now,1502 participants in tourney with over 4 million jackpot today. Nice to see those numbers rising.

I think that means tier 1 is top 15, tier 2 top 30 and tier 3 top 90 or something.

This is the highest it has been so far. Nice to see the numbers growing up.

With 1500 players tiers are:
Tier 1: 15 players (last position 15th)
Tier 2: 15 (30th)
Tier 3: 60 (90th)
Tier 4: 90 (180th)
Tier 5: 270 (450th)

but with more people in the jackpot gets spread more as well
I'd even say overall the payout is less now - because to get to desired position you need to play less games (new matchm. sys): the jackpot decreases..

Today's Tier 1 was about 240.

Today (due to the date) I guess tier 1 will be a lot lower than 240. Currently the 1st is 228, and I have the 5th place with 220, but the 6th is 207.
I'm off to get some sleep, but I do hope 228 is enough for tier1.

It is not about the rating, but about the ladder ranking. And it depends on the number of participants. If 2000 people attends, top 20 is tier 1. If 1000 people attend, top 10 is tier 1. So it is all relative.
