Ok lets find out what the error, if any, is being recorded. Are you in Tiles or Desktop mode?
Desktop mode. As for the file validation thing, it's not just this game, a few of my other games fail to validate just one file, could be a DRM thing.
Windows 8 came with the computer, so there's no going back to 7 for me.
It's also 2AM, so I'm off to bed and will check back on this tomorrow. Thanks for the help so far!
Here's the error report though:

The 1 file failed to validate is part of the steam drm yes.Originally Posted by newfrank Go to original post
Yes you can downgrade to Win7 but it requires a Fresh install of Win7.
Okay try this.
1. Run the game and write down the time you launched it at.
2. Press the start key and type this out "eventvwr.mc" in the search without quotes, Then click the eventvwr app.
3. Expand the "Windows Logs"
4. Select the Application then wait till it loads and shows the list.
5. Look for the logs that match the time you wrote down for Farcry3.exe/farcry3_d3d11.exe.
6. Copy then Paste them in a reply.
Edit: LOL you beat me to it. :P
Ah okay it's the updater thats crashing and not the game hmmm...Originally Posted by newfrank Go to original post
Okay navigate to here: "C:\Program Files(x86)\Ubisoft\FarCry 3\bin" And Run FC3UpdaterSteam.exe manually without steam.
Then report back.
