Please extend this post with another solution that I've found:
On nVIDIA cards which are factory-overclocked (that is, cards with the ti extension suchj as GT660ti), Ubisoft games all seem to freeze. The identical problem happens with FarCry3 and with Assassin's Creed IV.
The solution is to use a utility (usually from the graphics card manufacturer) to down-clock your card to the stock graphics card settings. For instance, the GPU clock on the stock GT660 card runs at 980 MHz, but the GT660ti comes set at a clock speed of 1033MHz. So if you have a 660ti, you need to adjust your GPU clock down to 980MHz to avoid the freezing in Ubisoft games.
None of the solutions worked for me, and I can run games like Metro Last Light, Neverwinter, BF4, Cod Ghosts just fine. (with all of them lots of players have problems, I don´t have any.) But it seems playing in Fullscreen-Window mode (or Borderless Window Mode) instead of Fullscreen the game is working fine. Try it, only thing you will miss is Vsync but performance should be the same. Please add this to the list before "reinstall everything"!
Dear Sir/Madam,
I hope you are well.
I have recently had a pleasure of buying the deluxe version of Far Cry 3 which does not work.
I have tried all those solutions found on the websites (this website and steam website etc.). I would be very grateful if you could let me know the fix for this problem.
I would have to ask for a full refund if this does not get solved. I bought a game to play and enjoy it - not just storing it away as a collection which can not be played. This I certainly believe is not how this product should be. Thanks very much for your understanding.
Best Regards,
A customer.
Thanks for the information.
I was getting the APPCRASH with Exception Code: c0000005 error on starting the game after 3 months of playing without any problems.
So - Started at number 1 with the intention of working through the options to see if anything would work. Tried solution 1, & didn't work.
Started number 2 and went to edit GamerProfile.xml which existed but was completely blank, so pasted in info from
http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Far_Cry...merProfile.xml
Saved, restarted Far Cry 3 & it worked.
Reset changes made in solution 1 & game still works.
Thanks again & hope this info is useful to others.
At first it was the stop responding error message, so I re-installed the game and uplay and now I get this error message.
Failed to execute command: farcry3_d3d11.exe (error 740)
Please make sure this executable file exists.

Hey, I just recently bought far cry 3 and activated it on uplay with the key. After downloading it, I installed. During the installation process it said it encountered an error three times. It gave me the option to ignore it and continue. When it finished it downloaded two updates (1.04 and 1.05) and installed them. I then clicked play in the uplay app and far cry 3 opened to the loading screen. After about 5 seconds it crashed and said "Far Cry 3 has stopped working, windows is checking for a solution to the problem" After that it just ends. I have tried re-installing uplay but to no avail. My system specs are as follows: Intel Core i3-3217U CPU @ 1.80GHz, 6.0GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4000
Any help would be appreciated.

You my friend are a legend! Been trying to find a solution since the game randomly stopped working earlier today and was about to give up with it being 2AM here. Came across your post. Fixed everything!Originally Posted by Kev_G Go to original post
I just want to add my solution for others to see:
My System: Windows7 64-Bit, AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 965 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.4GHz, 4GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series
My Problem: I was getting Black Screen Crashes all the time in the second level, on my way to the first tower. In Multiplayer the game would crash after 10-15 minutes.
My Solution: Download latest GFX-Drivers, open Catalyst Control Center. Under "Performance" there is the "AMD OverDrive" Option. Activate "Graphics OverDrive and set the GPU rate down from +900MHz to 800Mhz.
The game now runs for more than 2 hours without problems.
Cheers!
