First of all, I think it's important to thank EternalCore for giving up his time to help us. He's gone out of his way to provide his knowledge and skills for our benefit... if there were more people like him in this world, I'ld surely have more faith in humanity, so hats off to you sir!

Secondly, again thanks to EternalCore, I've been able to finally get the game up and running, and have even made it past the first section without it freezing or crashing, like it had before I found this thread and following all the steps in the first post. (Prior to that it would crash when opening, and once that was fixed, it would freeze while running though the jungle in the first mission)

However, I've stumbled upon a problem which hopefully will be an easy fix:
When I open the in-game map, the game crashes... basically I'm still within the first few missions where you kill and skin a few pigs and collect your first plants, when the game directs me to use fast travel... i press "m"... map opens and boom; freeze, crash, blue screen of death. This happens whenever I open the map.

    Windows 7, 64
    4GB Ram
AMD Phenom II X2 555 Processor
    ATI Radeon HD 5700 series

    You're Very Welcome.

Try Solution 6 in the 1st post. And If that doesn't work then it's a game breaking bug and you need to report it here: http://ubisoft.custhelp.com/app/ask

I've found my solution. Hopefully, this helps some others on there. Based on my trying everything under the sun and nothing working along with the PC crashing in other DX11 games that it didn't used to, I have concluded, that at least for my machine, Nvidia drivers 310.70 are not stable and don't work for any DX11 game installed on my PC.

I've now gone back to the 306.97 drivers for a second time and got a 5 hour play session in without a single glitch or crash.

Maybe a driver roll back with help some of the rest of you having issues.

Well, it occurred to me that I had not messed with some previously picky games such as Batman: Arkham City since upgrading to Nvidia 310.70 drivers. I went back and found crashes in B:AC so I rolled the driver back to the previous one that I knew was stable. 306.97. That seems to have worked out the crash issue. Played for over an hour without a crash. However, the sky doesn't render right among other whacky graphical glitches.

    Any help there?

    I'm running a i7 2600k, 580GTX and 16 GB ram.

The 310.70 WHQL Drivers are stable as I'm using it for my game and have 0 issues with it.
    Please don't double post Thanks!

Thanks EternalCore, didn't even notice the 6th step. You deserve some kind of internet award of excellency.

Trying the linked uninstaller now but Uplay is not listed, so I'm forced to select the "not listed" option which directs me to enter in a product code for Uplay... which, of course, is not listed anywhere... is it possible to use the uninstall .exe within the "ubisoft game launcher" folder? Or even the Control panel feature?

    Thanks again.

*Edited: Just noticed what looks like a product code within Ubisoft > Ubisoft Game Launcher > cache > ownership. (Game launcher file is where the uplay.exe resides) Could it be Uplay's product code?

    *Edited spelling.
If it's not listed then either:
    Uplay is Not installed
Uplay didn't install successfully the 1st time.

So skip to download & install Uplay to see if that solves your issue.

Hey, got it to work for over an hour (with a few freezes) after re-downloading Uplay from the Ubisoft link in step 6, but it finally just crashed as I was heading up to Dr. Ernhearts place.

I figured I'd try step 6 again, but Uplay still isn't listed in the Fixit uninstall list. Not sure the best way to uninstall Uplay is without Fixit... but think it's definitely not installed properly.
    Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks again.

Now that you got the game to work just try the other solutions which should fix the game and make it work properly.

Edit: I fixed up Solution 6, so retry what it says again if you still need to.
