Why do you assume that I want Uplay? I bought the game on Steam because I like Steam. I don't like Uplay, I don't know you and I don't want to know you. I have to launch Steam to launch Uplay to launch Far Cry 3. Why would you think anyone would enjoy this? Uplay is pointless, and it almost makes me not want to play Far Cry 3. You are not Steam, you should makes games that I can buy on Steam, but don't get the impression that your "extra" service is needed.
TLDR; Uplay, you suck and are annoying. Go away.
I agree 150%. All these companies trying to do what Steam is doing is pointless. Uplay, GFWL, Origin, any others I didn't add are just pointless. The Uplay interface sucks, it is unresponsive, it's an all around pain in my rear end.
Please stop forcing us to use a service that is far below what Steam is.
It is pants!
My partner has Might and Magic heroes 6 installed and I did not know it used Uplay. When I installed Farcry 3 it automatically linked to her account, so now technically Farcry 3 belongs to her now......thanks lol I tried to change her name to mine as she does not use it any longer (becuase HOMM6 was super buggy), I was unable to do this!!
Rubbish system!
Yeah I agree, if you own the game on Steam you shouldn't need UPlay. I have Steam friends and none on UPlay since I
don't use it. Hey SinisterKent when you say offline mode you mean you run steam offline or just the game? I don't play multiplayer
so I could care about being online. Is it a UPlay setting?
@ the guy above, you can buy download codes for steam from many stores or even use codes from actual hard copies through steam.
I hate Uplay, Origin, GFWL, Social Club.. They all suck, they all piss me off and make me want to avoid as many games from the companies using them as possible.
Granted Origin is the worst forcing me to open my web browser to launch the game too.. god dammit..
The first company to remove their stupid Steam copy and work with Valve to make the best product will be loved by everyone
Yeah I know about that but...Originally Posted by Flat_Face Go to original post
IMHO the best option would have been that all games should have been, by law, required to be interchangeable to every service, or just downloadable (activated once and then done forever). That way I could have picked a service with alot of features, a trimmed down service or nothing at all (other than an activation).
Thats my dream scenario though and wont ever happen.
It's weird that origin forces you to open a webbrowser. I only have mass effect 3 on it and have no problem (I hardly use any of it's features).
I'm glad that other people agree with me on this. Don't get me wrong, if I buy a physical copy of the game and they want to implement their own system, or offer their own online service that I can buy the game from, that's fine. I agree that it's not good to have a monopoly on online game distribution, but so far Steam has treated gamers well.
My big concern is how everyone seems to think that social networking is needed for a game. Steam does a good job at not shoving that down your throat, but Far Cry 3 adds their twitter and facebook stuff in the main menu. It has not been updated since I started playing! There is no need to have this on the main menu.
Social networking is great, but I play single player games for a reason, that reason is simple. I don't want to talk to people or chat while I'm in the middle of a fire fight. Far Cry 3 is a good game, and I have no issues with it. But Uplay and the constant mention of twitter, "Upoints", and needing to create another account to sign in is getting really old.
Let player opt out of all that if they want. Just give us a CHOICE to use Uplay. That's all I'm asking.
