How you should have done COOP

You shouldn't have wasted your time on this linear arcade system. See below for a non destructive coop system that makes the single player coop without ruining the experience at all, not to mention once the multiplayer mechanics are put in place its done. No need to spend time and resources developing a coop story

You know what you should have done? Simply make the single player coop. "BUT THAT RUINS THE SINGLE PLAYER EXPERIENCE OMG OMG NO!!" Actually no it doesn't. Let a player assist you in your campaign. They play as a generic ally warrior. Boom. You don't even need to write a new character or edit the story in any way. He doesnt need to be mentioned in cutscenes or dialogue either. He can drop in and out at any time. Use Mercenaries 2 as a reference. The two players couldn't stray to far from eachother but it was still a blast

They don't have an inventory or anything, they run off of a copy of the hosts loadout. If one finds ammo the other will get it also. If player2 skins an animal player 1 gets it. They automatically get all wallet/ammo/sack pouch upgrades. We don't even need trading. Id just love to assist my friend in sneaking around outposts and gunning out of the car. On cinematics just show player 2 the same screen as player 1

Hire me before you start on farcry 4

i think everyone agrees that they would love to have a co-op on the SP map, even if with different missions.
however i think there is a technical limitation to how the game streams the world data and syncs them between players. it's not so simple.

it actually is pretty simple if you don't let the characters be really far away from eachother

Yeah they need to hire people that have actually played far cry games before like yourself. I don't think anyone in charge of MP has ever played a previous far cry game therfore are clueless about what makes a far cry game successful in MP.

Im just curious why they chose this linear arcade crap instead of letting us just play the singleplayer with a friend (with a non-story destructive multiplayer element like I've described!)

A Free Roam Co op mode on the singleplayer map would indeed be alot less work and money and it would had been indeed alot better...

I agree that I would've loved to have the singleplayer campaign be a co-op also. As far as I'm concerned, it really wouldn't even matter if the 2nd player is involved in the story at all. Just let that person be an silent extra with a unique skin template.

UBISOFT wasted alot of money and resources to imagin a story for co op....creat scenarios....program 6 missions.....prepare cinematic videos.....and over that UBI had to designed specific maps....

All instead of simply.....have a free roam co op mp mode on the Rook islands and all Far Cry fans would had been happy and none would had been frustrated about the COD multiplayer......the perfect FAR CRY 3......

    Big fail....

Ubisoft had the dumbest reason for not making free roam coop

"Good question. We actually tried this and while it’s a lot of fun to wreak havoc in an open world (as you’ve noticed in the campaign), it’s really hard to get MULTIPLE people to focus on even remotely the same thing. People run off in different directions and die 4km away, or ruin each other’s plans and you end up yelling and hating the people you should be cooperating with! So we focused on, well, more focused action bubbles where we test the gunplay to its limits as you turn up the difficulty. I’m sure some clever modder will find a way to spawn more than one player into the campaign world at some point. "

Are you kidding me? Play with a good friend or play alone. Its not their fault if their partner is an idiot.
