FAR CRY 3 SiNGPLEPLAYER IMMERSION TIPS !

    Hi all !
Just would like to share my own personal preferences to make me feel more immersed in the Farcry world.
I would also like to hear if you guys alter your playstyle or have any way of making you feel more immersed.

    This is my setup:

    * Difficulty on warrior - The beauty of Farcry 3 is that the enemy is very vulnerable this makes planning & tactics really pay off because conflicts can be settled with a couple well placed rounds or a headshot.... If you dont take any health upgrades the same can be said for you !!

    * Turned off crosshair, Use the iron site !

*No auto aim, You are now in control and this makes headshots easier to make because you will not be pulled into an enemy.

    * Limit or not use the X-Ray camera vision, scan the area with a scope,by eyes and sound.

    * Dont take any health slot upgrades/ or go the +1 healthslot and 50% more body armor dmg absorb route
    * Rely on your body armor beware of the enemy wearing it - Headshots !
    - This will make you very vulnerable forcing you to Scan & Plan the area before you make a move.
-This will make you use & appreciate in what my opinion is one of the more smooth, fun and cooler cover systems that ive seen and will definitely make you experience some Awesome moments !!
where you run from cover to cover sliding behind stuff waiting for your grenade or c4 to explode while you franticly blindfire over the rim of cover, leaning and peaking taking potshots keeping the enemy at bay until it is time to lay down more accurate fire.
-Making staying cover and flanking & contra flanking the enemy in long & close range combat more important, upon discovery you will be at a severe disadvantage making you scan and plan multiple exits or a good 2nd sniper spot to cover the first when the enemy is alarmed or lured.

No health slot upgrades is a true game changer !
One could argue that taking 1 extra healthslot is also a wise choice, this will give you some slack in case you encounter an unforeseen and illogical deadly fall or animal attack which after happening x amount of times can get on your nerves when everything is going according to plan, plotting and planning prevailing over your enemy but dying by a glitchy ledge or angry rodent..
Also optional is taking the perks which will make body armor absorb 50% more dmg and fire/explosion resistence perks - gives more room for error.

In my current setup im using the +1 healthslot, was doubting about taking the body armor perk wanna see if the second island add any real challenges first.
If not, i will refrain from taking it, as time passes you will get better in the game through new weapons and by your own experience and tactics so in the long run anything that makes it easier youd probably wanna cut out.

For now the +1healthslot still makes it a fun challenge, planning, tactics and taking cover are a must, when you are being outflanked or in crossfire you really have to act or else your dead.

I will make a newgame after i complete the story without any health, bodyarmor or explosion/flame resistance perks.
This I feel will make farcry3 more fun in the long run, where a mistake will cost you dearly, bodyarmor is your lifeline and your best weapons are your senses and planning.
(and a bit of luck and mercy concerning the animal kingdom)

THE BEST OF ALL IS IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING ANY TROUBLE IN ONE OF THE MAIN MISSIONS OR JUST WANNA TAKE IT EASY YOU CAN USE ONE OF THE CRAFTABLE INJECTIONS TO GIVE YOU AN EXTRA 4 HEALTH SLOTS THAT STAY UNTILL ARE DEPLETED.

    Optional restrictions:
Only use 2 weapons at the time. 4 slots are always active so one can & has to choose 2 sets. You will have to decide which set you use for a particular assault or ambush.

    *Wishlist:
    Optional hud:
The following options are just a example but here they are :
    Mini-map [ON] [OFF]
Hit Indicators [ON] [OFF] - (the enemy detection arrows)
    Objective Markers [ON] [OFF]
Object Highlight [ON] [OFF] - (e.g. the glowing/flashing dead animals)
    Hint Pop-ups [ON] [OFF]
    XP Pop-ups [ON] [OFF]
Enemy Tagging [FULL] [MINIMAL] - ('Full' would be as it currently is, i.e. wallhack + orange skull icons, 'Minimal' would just be red dots on the map/mini-map)

On my second playthrough atm, the health tip is really good, reminds a lot of INFAMOUS mod on FC2, which was brutal!

But yeah, I only leveled up the skilled that gave me abilities and extra skills, rather than reduce damage/more health, its a game changer!

I also tried my best to only use scavenged weapons, but its hard during the first island!

On this, my second play through, I've decided to play on Warrior. The plan is to not use any stimulants, so I will be taking the additional health slots. In regards to weapons, there will be only three on me at any one time, the knife, Recurve Bow, and Silenced SMG or Assault Rifle. Most crafted items will be severely limited, excluding the wallet. I should also mention, the Bow will be default, none of the additional sights.

    Some additional thoughts:

All radio towers will be unlocked with no more than three bases on the first island procured for travel purposes.

    Good stuff guys !
Yeah, limiting equipment is a good one !
Yeah, hope the enemies carry a tad more variety of weapons on island 2, I like the idea of scavenged weapons !
Yes, I have only taken 3 outpost with 2 of them for the requirements regarding the silent move perk, tis definitely makes the island feel more allive and hostile !

Thanks for the feedback guys !

    • no fast travel
    • no vehicles in pirate-controlled areas
    • low tier weapons only (1911, ak47, etc.)
    • no skills other than starter skills (grenade cooking, takedown, sprint slide)
    • no towers
    • warrior difficulty

That's the plan for my next playthrough once the UI toggle patch is released. Will likely use a recurve bow, silenced skorpion, flare gun, and ak47.

Great post, FC needs more immersion. I can't say enough how much I agree w/ the DO NOT USE THE CAMERA tip. It's a shame cuz the zoom is highly useful but the tagging is just godawful ugly and ruins every encounter for me. I really hope the next patch allows us to turn off tagging altogether

+1 awesome tips ... just wish Ubisoft had employed some pro gamers to sort all this stuff prior to release, they must have just let a mob of noobs loose on the game and got absolute Shiznit feedback from them else why for some of the design choices ? crazy mad insane !

I am worried this new difficulty level is just going to make the enemy harder to kill, which makes the game less realistic and fun, what it needs to be is make weapon damage real for everyone, so enemy take one or two shots, you take one or two shots, and thats it
