Far Cry 3 is WAY Too Easy (Even on the Hardest Setting)

I'm about a dozen hours into the game, playing on Warrior difficulty, and while the game is a vast improvement over Ubisoft's prior entries in the series, I feel like it's just too easy. I realize that Far Cry 1's difficulty was a bit on the extreme side, in the way the AI could shoot you down from a mile away like they're cyborgs with bionic vision and aiming (which I loved); I was never expecting FC3 to match FC1 in terms of hardcore, raw difficulty.

However, all that being said, I still feel FC3 is way under-par compared to the difficulty of most modern shooters (COD and Battlefield, for example). It's not 10% as hard as Far Cry 1, and not even half as hard as Far Cry 2 on its hardest setting! You can basically carry a ton of health syringes and green herbs, and heal yourself forever, and this is probably the biggest reason it's so easy. The enemies are also very easy to kill, and their aim isn't particularly good. Most of the time I run into a group of enemies, I don't even have to use a single health syringe! And I'm not even sniping, I'm just using an assault rifle from behind cover, and can easily kill off groups of enemies in a few seconds.

This game could really use a patch perhaps to balance the game out a bit for more of a challenge. For example, some things that could be patched:

    • Enforce strict limits on health syringes you can carry
    • Require 2 green herbs instead of just 1 to craft a health syringe, and also enforce strict limits on green herbs you can carry
    • Make enemy AI tougher--i.e., have better aim, and take more bullets to kill (doubling enemy health would be a good start)

As I said, I feel the game is very well made in many regards, but I feel like Ubisoft was too busy just finishing the game and polishing other aspects, but neglecting to balance the game's difficulty level. In its current form, it's pretty much a cakewalk for anyone who is moderately proficient at shooters. However, I still feel hopeful that the difficulty can be easily patched in a couple different ways (simple tweaks to enemy AI variables/damage would be enough) to be more of a challenge and thus more enjoyable.

You can thank anyone who complained about FC2's difficulty for this. It's unfortunate.

Stop acting like a Rooster here, if you're that good.....good for you but i play the single player at medium and it's OK for me...

There is another point that fits well in this thread. Hunting becomes unnecessary since there are alot of things to hunt that you will never need for crafting and you just don´t need the money from the skins. Seriously all you have to do is to run around and activate the radio towers and you get the best weapons for free very fast. That makes the game incredibly easy. Yes it is one hell of a ride when you play this game the first time but when you are like me on your second or third run through you get bored very quickly.

    Who's Rooster?

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with people who aren't good at shooters, or who prefer less challenge in their games, and just want to enjoy the story. That's why Easy and Medium settings exist, to allow people to play the game with less of a challenge.

However, I think this game is desperately missing the Hardcore or Realistic difficulty settings that were present in the previous two games. Some people enjoy their action games more if they are very challenging and intense and make your palms sweat a bit. Even on Warrior difficulty, FC3 is simply a very easy game... easier than other shooters like COD or Battlefield. This much cannot be argued. I shouldn't have to handicap myself to no health upgrades (which I will probably have to do on my next playthrough).

I only play at medium settings but i restrict myself to add challenge - i didnt craft a bigger syringe case so i carry only few of these and i havent upgraded ANYTHING to do with health. Im 14 hours in and i still have only 2 health bars that regenerate very slowly.
Its not very hard that way but its fine for my first playthrough.
On my secong playthrough i will do the same on hardest difficulty.

Also i use the mod that makes the enemies NOT appear on my minimap so that adds a little more challenge and i hardly use the camera to tag, i turned weapon tagging off as well as the crosshair.

FC2 was harder due to enemies take too many bullets to kill and on hardest settings they had inhuman accuracy. I didnt like that, frankly.

Im on normal difficulty and i think its kinda challenging, even though im not really looking for it to be hard, looking more for realism and story, when i 1 shot someone with pistol chest up or 2-3 below that it just gives it a real feel.

I heard Ubisoft is making a patch that will allow you to turn off certain HUD elements. Hopefully, you'll be able to turn off enemy highlights. Enemy highlighting is another thing that makes the game so easy.

I like the difficulty of the warrior setting, if the game was like COD veteran setting it would be obnoxious. I like that the enemies don't have lazer guns and super human vision. But I agreaa that limiting other things like syringes, and the amount of herbs it takes to craft them. But having super human enemies would make the game challenging that's for sure, but it wouldnt be fun.
