I waited and waited for this game, the trailer looked exciting, and I couldn't wait, having been a Fry Cry (1) fan.

After playing for about a week, I can't take it anymore - I can't stand this game, and AM VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Before I begin my reasons for the disappointment, here is a disclaimer...

I am of the breed who started FPS from Doom, etc. It appears that FPS games have evolved into these "Movie" like games, where much of the content is based on just that - interruption of playability in order to watch scripted story-lines. I can only take a little of it, which is how things were maybe 5-10 years ago. But these days, there is too much emphasis on this. If I wanted to to watch a movie, I would do just that, but I don't want to pay $59.99 to watch a freakin' movie. It is boring and not a challenge when I am prompted to "press 'W'" to stab a guy or "press 'A'" to slide across a ledge. I disliked and stopped purchasing the Call of Duty series and Crysis series once their single-player games evolved into such "Movie" games. I was hoping Far Cry 3 would have been more like Far Cry 1, with little interruption. For example, Fallout 2 and New Vegas get away with little interruptions, and the action can continue. I leave this aspect as a disclaimer, because I realize that there might be a lot of people who like this aspect of gaming. I don't.

Anyway... enough of that. Let's pretend I LOVED "movie" games... I still have issues with this game...

    1. Forced Jumping: It seems that nearly every little bump, tree stump, bridge, rock, whatever, that I run into, I have to jump over. This is RIDICULOUS, and by far the most annoying aspect of the game. I mean, come on! Who really has to do a full jump over a thin piece of wood? This game plays as if the main character is Gumby, who is sliding across the jungle and gets stuck at every freaking pebble or tree-stump. Um, humans can run along and naturally/unconsciously step-over small objects without having to do a full-on leap or jump.

    2. There are like 4 login periods to play a game. Annoying. First, the Uplay login. Second, the general game login. Third, the "updating friends, blah blah blah" sync login. And finally, the actual save state login. Again, annoying.

    3. The Autosaves are terrible. Saving at the nearest friendly place? Come on, just save in the jungle, wherever I was originally at. Why do I want to run all the way back to the place where I was ready to get the loot, but was interrupted and had to close the game? Why do I want to repeat the entire mission sequence, "movies" and all if I had to quit the game and return to it?

    4. There are a few moments in the game where the action breaks to have a "movie" - great, fine, we covered this in the disclaimer, but if this is during a difficult part of the mission and I die, I have to stop the action and watch that part OVER and OVER. This gets old. An example of this is the mission with the Chinese ships in the cave, where the "movie" triggers for the huge bell to fall and you've gotta' run fast to get out of the cave before the cave collapses. I had trouble falling off the cliff a lot, and had to watch that 15 second "movie" like 15-20 times before I finally got out. Aside from the forced jumps, this is probably the most annoying aspect of the game.

    5. When jumping over large rocks, etc, why the hell does the guy have to jump backwards and sideways in response to a difficult jump? Annoying. Why can't he just slam into it or slide down? This happened to me numerous times during the "acid water" part in the cave. I would try to jump on a large boulder and instead, I would appear to "deflect" sideways or backwards, sometimes into the acid-water. Annoying.

    6. During the medical racing missions, I got my vehicle stuck in a tree. I had to just get out of the car and wait until the time ran out. Lame. Maybe there was a way to cancel the mission, I didn't bother to check.

    7. I was fairly early into the game, I believe, before I already maxed out my wallet. Really? I am forced to spend the money? Why? I am happy with the specialized guns I got for free. So, why bother looting body or a treasure chest? What a waste.

Those were my main issues. All in all, the game has been extremely annoying to play, and with few redeeming qualities. I like the AI aspect, as an example, where there is a challenge to sneak up on groups of enemies. However, I am basically done playing this game, before I even got half-way. Oh well. I guess I'll shelve this one along with the Call of Duty and Crysis series "movie" games that I don't really play anymore.

When are we getting the 1.04 patch (or better) on the PS3? I have the bug where I can't progress past kick the hornet's nest on my second play through, and also the trials don't seem to register. Did you not expect people to play again? I will concede that the non-skip able cut scenes and scripted elements are less interesting 2nd time round. I just wanted to play it through without doing all the outposts so that I would actually have some fighting to do as I travel around and explore. I stupidly did all the outposts 1st time round and the world became quite boring.

also it would be great to add a mode that made the immersion more like Far Cry 2, ie no mini map, etc.

I bought this game on pc after watching mate play on PS; it looked really neat. I am an adult gamer.

    Negatives:

Not impressed that I paid for the game and then am forced to view your marketing via uplay.

By default the game wouldn't let me start without patching it; I use mobile broadband and it's **** expensive. I found the play offline button and played; it kept crashing; really made me angry that you released such an unstable game; none of my other games do this.

I bought the game to play, not watch movies that I cannot skip; and if you fail a quest, it plays the same movie again. I am not sure why you are trying to reinvent the wheel here; are you guys into square wheels over there?

Your game starts at the most highest video setting for me, and it just chunked out; when I changed of course it crashed again.

Very suprised mouse acceleration was turned on; not good for FPS in my opinion.

There was no way to turn down audio quality; I suspect that is another reason why the game is chunky and the mouse movement is bad.

For some reason, I could not find where to change the keyboard binding for twenty minutes; its needs to be clearer instead of the raggy interface.

When opening lock boxes, it seems to be a very slow process, and then over holding the button on the chance there is more loot in there.

Climbing steps of the first radio tower was strange; they look like steps but you have to jump up them.

I can't drive the car with the mouse, I didn't investigate too much though.

I accidentally patched the game while it was on; it did the patch without detecting Far Cry was running, went back into the game, killed a couple of boar, gathered some herbs, went out of mission area and boom, crashed and did not save. tried to reboot my machine because game would not start telling me I needed to patch it; Windows hung out shut down screen, then would not start again until a couple of resets. Nothing was saved and I had to go back to the starting camp, watch the movie again etc..

Started the game again, and the a 25MB Uplay patch downloaded.

Went to the forum to see what I am doing wrong, it says to read the FAQ first before posting, hit the FAQ link; no FAQs. Entered Far Cry 3 into search field; no results found; how ridiculous.

went to sign up to post this, and my full name was displayed as the user; had to make a new Uplay account for some privacy.

Was writing this post with game running, friends came round for two hours. Went back to computer to finish writing, and what do you know, crashed again with a dialogue from Windows saying the game is not responding.

There are many positives to the game like the graphics, and the characters etc.., but I am going to try my best to get a refund; I am too old to deal with this kind of stuff. Counter Strike never crashes my computer, WoW never crashes it, Not even windows haha

Sorry to rain on your party, but I have got a feeling you guys must be too money hungry to be releasing this buggy game; maybe its just karma from nuking the pacific; I don't know.

    All the best.

This game is amazing, much better than FC2. Great story line, characters, weapons etc.

But, there are problems that are beginning to annoy me, such as:
stealth; a stealth element in a game is all good, but sometimes i just don't have the patience to spend hours sneaking around, i would much prefer to run out and start killing every enemy in sight instead of trying to get past them with an unlimited supply of rocks.
wild animals; these can be plain annoying, every time i run through the jungle there is always a tiger or some dogs to slow me down. The problem wold not be so bad if they weren't so tough, i mean you can shoot like 20 AK47 rounds into a tiger and it is still perfectly able to run around and kill you, or the one horn buffalo, which took about 7 or 8 close range shotgun shells in the face to kill.
controls; should've kept FC2 controls , the amount of time I've used a medical syringe instead of getting in or out of a vehicle, because on most game where triangle (or whatever else on PC and Xbox) in enter/exit vehicle, in FC3 that's how you heal.

These are some of the main things i dislike about the game, there are more problems, but they aren't too bad. Overall i'd probably rate the game 7/10. Good, but could use some changes and improvement.

    Just finished the story yesterday.

It would be nice to have an option to repopulate some of the outposts with enemy soldiers. I have cleared all of the radio towers and all of the outposts, so basically there are no more enemys to fight with.

HUD need to be fixed again!
We want to have the option to disable minimap and differents icons from it.
And of course, we want the option to remove blinking objets illumination and see throw walls. Thats horrible!
Please Ubisoft fix this, its very easy to do...

After you hunt an animal it can be very hard to find your kill. you should make them flash/glow like the dead pirates that you haven't looted the bodies yet.
