among the HUD issues and bugs people have mentioned, a major flaw IMO was the sudden dead-end of the crafting system and hunting. you craft the non "path of the hunter" gear VERY quickly, and beyond that, hunting becomes worthless, especially since money is basically no problem. but my #1 issue is that enemies don't attack outposts that you have taken (san andreas style).

when i realized those two flaws at around the half way point through the story, i pretty much stopped doing sidequests because they seemed completely unnecessary and boring.

i feel like, at it's core, FC3 is a GREAT game, but it needs some tweaks in order for it to be more replayable, and to add more value to ignoring the main quest.

It'd be nice to get one more upgrade for the weapon holster to carry 5 weapons. 4 weapons is feeling a bit limited now that I got the .50 sniper rifle. So many awesome weapons to use. I think 5 would be just right.

Also, instead of constantly binding which syringes you want to use, to only 2 slots, add a button which brings up all your available syringes to use. And instead of having the special arrow types have to use up a slot, instead have a separate key to "change ammo type".

But like I've said before, this game is amazing, just tiny little improvements could make it better. This game is great fun.

Another vote for being able to use a gamepad for driving, and mouse&keyboard for on foot. Having to manually change between them in options every time you're in a vehicle is no go.
Basically, leave both input options open at all times. Seamless switching.

I LOVE THIS GAME ! BUT THE MP VOICE......

this is the only information I have found anywhere...sad to read it, but obviously missed the whole point of communication as it is on any other sucessful game with MP you need communication to even be sucessful like BLOPS2, any MW, red dead, Even FC2 : A big THANKS to Dan Berlin:buy a XBox or PS3 and play some other MP games and learn something.

Strategy Informer: Would you say then that multiplayer by way of voice communications is a failed venture?

Dan Berlin: Yes I do. The multiplayer today isn’t really people sitting together in a room, so they can’t really talk to each other. Not a lot of people use the voice functionality anyway – I never use it, I’m just sitting alone at home playing on my couch, and I get match-made with strangers, people who I’ve never met before, so that’s why we brought in the silent communication into the game, the backend systems that help you with communications.

Strategy Informer: Before this you worked on World in Conflict, what did those games teach you about online gaming?

Dan Berlin: Doing an RTS in a multiplayer universe is a tough thing – it has a lot of balancing in it, and we have a lot of stats and stuff that we’ve got from after we released the game. But it relates to stuff like latency, and a load of techie stuff that our guys handle that I know nothing about, but they’re really good at it. It’s really about brining that top-notch experience to FarCry, it plays really well. We also have a bit of legacy coming into FarCry – if you look at the Firestorm game mode, it takes a lot of legacy from World of Conflict.

The whole idea of having two nodes burning at the same – that idea came from World in Conflict, where there were three of them all connected, and so that inherited into the Firestorm game mode. Also the idea of altering the map, and altering the flow of the map also was something that was pretty big in WiC. You started off with these beautiful times, you know, real American Suburbia, and by the end of the map it’s all destroyed, craters everywhere that you could hide troops in and everything…

That’s the idea with Firestorm – the fires grow and grow, and they alter the flow of the map and where you can go, and they also change the landscape of the island as well.

I agree wholeheartedly. I'm having great difficulty getting in to the game. In fact to me it doesn't feel like a game merely a procession from one hint to the next. Admittedly I am only about 15 mins in and half of that is cut scenes (which I appreciate are required to set the scene/ story but I've now sat through them three times) having watched them I need help to get me immersed. The clutter on the hud doesn't make this any easier. The big panel telling me to get one of each flower and kill two animals is especially annoying. Here's a hint guys, most people have memories, tell them what they need to do and then let them get on with it. Maybe put a reminder in a journal or notebook, it works in other games. And another thing. Why have a save button that doesn't allow one to save when one chooses? I've lost count of the times I've read that I cannot save during missions. When else would I want to save? I often play in very small time periods (10 mins before going out etc) it is really annoying to turn on game the next time and find oneself back where one was the day before.
I know that I'm not that far into the game albeit that due to the reasons above I have played for about an hour and that maybe I haven't given the game a chance but I have realized that I am now alienated and unlike with other games where I can't wait to get home and back on the computer the thought of firing up Far Cry 3 feels more like a chore, especially after having read comments from others that things don't improve much.
Oh and one last thing. What's all this b******t about saving the planet by not supplying a manual. Man up and admit it's a money saving exercise, which I note wasn't passed on!

    Very disapointing......

Sorry Ubisoft, but I reckon you screwed the pooch on this one! Far Cry 2 was absolutely awesome! I can't believe I waited so long for Far Cry 3 only to be so disappointed!

    Major hates so far -

    Story mode -

I despise not being able to save where/ when ever I want! It's incredibly frustrating having to repeatedly replay the last 10 mins of progress every time I get killed!! I hate this so much that it's almost got me giving up and trading the game in for something else!

    Multilayer -

For God's sake let me choose which map I want to play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Exactly my words

And it's the kind of game I have a hard time pulling away from. So don't take it as I don't love the game so far. But I'll add to it as I spend more time in the game.

    The negative
    • The interface breaks the immersion. This is the biggest letdown for me so far. Far Cry 2 raised the bar for immersion possible in a FPS. Everything was done by your character. Rarely were you pulled out from his view. Far Cry 3 has proved to me how important that was for the experience.
      • It yanks you out of the jungle immediately whenever you go check the map, crafting, lootsack, things that are done very often. Mostly because of how it pauses the game, mutes all the sounds of the jungle, and plays the same bass-heavy ambient track every time.
      • The interface sounds. The sounds are also too... dominant I guess. Woosh and thump. They also play every time a context sensitive option pops up, such as skinning animals, or looting corpses, this is unnecessary and only adds to the feeling that it's a game, the visual is enough.
      • It feels clunky on the PC. Sometimes you need to click on an option to make it highlight, other times hovering over is enough. Scrolling doesn't always work either.

    • Too much handholding:
      • Too many popups on screen. Too often. This is really annoying, the game encourages you to explore, but it's like it keeps telling you every 5 minutes that you should go do the story objective, craft this or that, no matter what you're doing.
      • Radio towers revealing everything in the area. Every chest and every relic. It takes out the exploration when you get exact coordinates on every interactable object in the world. Encourage the player to explore, don't spoil the surprise of finding something. A suggestion would be make it so that if you've turned specific legends off on the map screen it also affects the minimap.
      • Flashing objects. Especially the flora, makes it all look too gamey. It's fine for tutorials. But once the player has learned an object can be interacted with, it's not needed anymore. As always, an option to turn it off keeps both audiences happy
      • No option to turn off all the control reminders. Seasoned players won't need all these "press L-ALT to hold breath", "press C to switch to gunner seat" and so on. The less text that's put on screen the better. Use visual ques instead.

    • Day/Night/Weather cycle is way, way too fast. Sometimes I want to sneak around at night. But I can't skip to night, and when it is night, it lasts only what feels like 5 minutes. (Does the time of day and weather actually affect the AI detection and behavior?)
    • Clearing areas of pirates is too easy/fast. Others in this forum have suggested giving the pirates the ability to take back a captured checkpoint once in a while. To keep the player from having all these skills, but no one to use them on later in game. I'd in general like to keep the world occupied by pirates in remote areas. I like that towns and such become friendly once you've cleared the nearby checkpoints.
    • Combat with soldiers is too easy on the PC. Maybe it's some of the weapons that are too accurate. Even 6 pirates are easily dealt with by veteran PC players. It makes the combat feel over with too soon because I can land lethal hits in no time. Perhaps add more pirates everywhere they are.
    • No option to have both keyboard & mouse work seamlessly with a gamepad at the same time. A lot of people like me hate driving vehicles with a keyboard. Many want to pickup their controller when boarding a vehicle. Far Cry 2 had no problem with this, it accepted all inputs available at any time. It enabled me to use the joystick on my Logitech G13 for driving as well as movement. So I got the best of both worlds. I had analog steering, and analog movement, but I retained the pixel precision of mouse aiming. That really adds a lot.
    • Being able to see enemies through solid objects once tagged isn't a skill unlock. Some don't like it and are fine with them showing up on the minimap once tagged.

    The positive
    • The freedom of play and choice. Dynamic world.
    • Beautiful graphics that feels well-optimized. Some sliders for detail fade would be nice though. The way some objects disintegrate as you walk away and approach them is very noticeable when you sit at a desktop monitor
    • The hostile fauna. A nice change from always shooting at other bipeds. Keeps the world hostile. Keeps it fun exploring when you never feel safe.
    • PC port options are very nice. Especially the FOV option is much appreciated.
    • The cover system. Perhaps the best I've tried in a first person shooter. Blindfiring always feels cool.
    • Some cool villains. In particular Vaas and Buck. Cool performances in both body language, and the voice work.
    • Things like zip-lines, death from above take downs.
    • Being able to turn off the radio and headlights in vehicles. Made me very glad. The more choices I have the better. It adds to the immersion.
    • The sliding when you walk on steep surfaces is cool. Every game should do this. In other games it feels artificial and more of an area of denial than realism.
    • The vehicles are really fun to drive. They slide and drift. I haven't played a game with vehicle physics and handling outside of dedicated driving games. (but they could be even better if I could use a gamepad while driving them, and keyboard while on foot!) I do miss the way you could quickly look to the sides or behind you with the mouse buttons though. That was pretty genius in Far Cry 2, it's hard to recenter the view as fast as is needed when you're driving fullspeed.

I also think it's a shame how the buddy rescue system of Far Cry 2 was completely removed. It kept the story going even when you got yourself into a mess you couldn't get out of alone. Getting dragged out of the combat zone and given a second chance with some backup was a lot better than restoring the latest saved state. And once you've used the buddy rescue, you knew not to take any chances. Far Cry is sort of all about taking those big risks that when successful, makes you feel like an action hero. You're punished severely from failing depending on when your last save was in Far Cry 3.

Not what I expected. Too much amaturish repettive missions. Take the tower , switch it on, take the outpost with red pirate shirted thugs saying the same things over and over[like my ***** is burning , I should have used a rubber].Outpost taken, the Rikjat storm in , colours change and one guy stalks around saying: " i'm the man". [sheer arrogance] The board has the enevitable assasinate pirate like a Rikjat and the hunters path. Thats it , over and over ....and over....
All cars sound like souped up dragsters ...FC 2 vehicles sounded and handled 100% better .You could open the map while driving. Guns do not sound or even look realistic like FC 2 guns and even sounded better. All in all FC 2 was more professional by far and I must have played it through 12 times plus .I am bored with FC 3 already , have played only half of it and am.....Quitting out of sheer disinterest.

im loving all the sick ideas! ....

    1. fire on your arm cant kill you!!!!! ENGHHHHHHH

2 tonnes of sick ideas in here lads! keep em coming, we will change the future of far cry gaming... add of these people good ideas into farcry three....
. and then to four, and keep adding more...... FAR CRY IS THE SICKEST!

    now more ideas ........

have i said hitchhike/taxi service from homies to an outpost of my choosing, and i ride shotgun and can shoot my weapons...

some soldiers should have custom guns or different weapons we cant buy

    rock climbing, anywhere!

    fast rope
    grappeling hook

a winch on the jeep... and a roof rack for the glider..

after you beat the game it unlocks 2 player online or on console oper world single player.. no missions.. just trials, camps and hunting...
or mini smuggling missions with vehicles around the island, and increased troop movents because some rebels are trying to take the island back..
(perfect dlc) 2 player, or 4 player on ine open world co op... PLEASE...

after you beat the game you can have some homies ride with you to mess up all the camps that the enemies take back
.. how about adding another island in dlc?

i should be able to climb anything

i want to pick up the gas lantern and carry it all night, and smash it in the morning for fire starting a base

how about when i shoot a soilder in the leg = limp, i can shoot guns from their hands ect

add evening to day night... i want long sunsets i like my beach walks

(c4 or mines, grenades or moltovs ) IF i want too, i would like to be able to carry no mines, and twice as much c4
or vise versa... same for grendaes or moltovs... i could carry 16 of 1 or 8 of each.. or any combination in between.

if i press Y twice it should switch to my knife

i should be able to put more than three c4 at a time ( i love the 1 at a time det)

enemies need to act different in day/evening/night .... cook/eat/drink/ sleep...
in the morning they are lazy and dont patrol as much
    i need to lay down

    a sidways roll
    a front roll
    a dive

use takedown victims as bullet resistent vest and shoot their pistol until the clip is empty as a takedown....

weapon specific takedowns for every weapon

how about NO DYING FROM FALLING!! you would just get messed up.. meds cant heal the limp,
there would be and energy bar on your screen, and you had to limp while you had energy, then rest, repeat,
all the way back to a safe house to fix it and sleep it off, and the next day you were woosy and not 100% with the running...
or you could fast travel back if your puss or in a hurry..

how about something else like the trials of the rakyat.. but different... not time limit, but waves of increasing difficulty...
at cool locals caves, ruins, towns, mountains, jungle, lagoons outposts, fishing villages, beached boats etc..

ive said this before, but hunting challenges that never end.... 100, 1000, 10 000 kill of each animal...

path of the hunter quests re playable with each and every weapon in the game, and then after you complete them all,
still replayable but you can select what ever weapon you want!

FULL SINGLE PLAYER CO OP ONLINE AND ON CONSOLE!

    MULTIPLAYER OPEN WORLD MODE!

    enemy retakes outposts

    weather/day/night longer

    foggy rainy day mode

increased stealth in rain and fog

why cant i climb altitude in the handglider... i should be able to gain some speed with a shallow dive and pull up to go up!

    throwables from the hand glider

    more mods for the bow
    more bows
    more weapons
    more attachments
    more gear
    more equipment
    grappling hook
    grappling hook arrow
    zipline arrow
more sharp things (katana, axe, spear)
bow staff... like little john.. SO STEALTH
    choke rope
    zippo
    can of gas

i want to be able to climb trees
    shoot stuff from the tree
    jump out of trees

    animal traps... eat animals

i want to be able to cut down trees and stick them in my pants

.... i love this game.... i cant put it down... BUT I WANT MORE HUNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGG MORE!!! my ideas will never go to far.....

ubisoft should scrap farcry 4, and start development on the farcry console... a farcry only console... ever expanding.... ONE HUGE WORLD...
always adding more more more.... CHA CHING $$$
