Hello, I'm not a newbie, just a lurker.
Well, first, I can say that I haven't seen two features suggested yet:
1. Ability to place non navy aircraft on the decks of carriers for transport. e.g., P-47s on the deck of an escort carrier. I don't expect them to take off, much less land, since decks were filled from end to end with these. They were to be unloaded on newly completed bases, and were sometimes the victims of various arial bombings, including kamikazes.
2. The other is the ability to switch on a Black and White filter, maybe even with a touch of graininess, to simulate old combat footage! Just for fun. I don't think it has to be perfect, just an option to be displayed in B&W during gameplay, via preference menu. Just optional. I really think it can be done, since we already have several graphics options for layerings, texture..... etc.

Mhmm.. in IL2/FB the "historic" tracks in campaigns are exactly done that way.
Still, could be more "grainy" and some camera-shocking, but hey, its great for telling stories and close enough to your idea....
But I dont know wether I want to fly in B/W .. its not realistic

The grainy Black & White option might not fly for actual play, but it would be an intriguing option for playing tracks...
cheers
