This is my LAST game that uses UPLAY, Ever...

I click on the Farcry 3 icon, 2 mins to update Directx... then 10mins to update Uplay! Does ANYONE think waiting
15mins to play a game you click on is acceptable??!

That's it, you have pissed on me for last time.

EDIT: Did I say 10mins?! Well, it's up to 15mins right now and still going...

EDIT #2 It took so long to start the game I lost interest, uninstall, dust bin, thanks for nothing... my last post here ever.

Sorry to hear your internet connection is so damn slow - the first-start updates are commonplace

The intention of Uplay is fine - distribution service and cloudsaving- but i've got two major problems with the service: 1) When I buy a game on Steam, I dont want to be forced to use yet another platform to play that game. 2) Personally i have some really bad experiences with the Uplay service. First, the cloudsaving for some games (Anno2070 and Heroes VI) is bugged and often corrupts my save games! And second, i bought From Dust some time ago (on steam as well), and when i activated it on Uplay, the game got lost and locked itself to another persons account! I contacted Uplay support, and after a lot of back and forth i just found myself with no From Dust and no compensation, just a "too bad, and sorry for the inconvenience". So for me Uplay equals bad service, and i can completely relate to the authors wish to avoid Uplay!

I would like to just play the game. I've posted a thread on this, but, this thread has been interesting reading. I played this game when it was first released, and lost interest because of all of the ridiculous stuff you have to do, just to get into some action. Left it, decided a re-try and I can't launch the game, even though I'm logged on to Uplay. Message says I must log on, which i am!

Someone like me does not benefit from Uplay. I don't care about points, or a bonus or tattoos or multi-play... I want to play off line, FPS only. I live in an area where many people do not have internet connection, many have only aerial TV because there is no sat. service in the woods. We still have places with no cell phone reception. These people are discriminated by Ubi, and do not have the opportunity to play these games. It's sad.

Ubi Soft, you are not an equal opportunity company.

You can play off line. When Uplay starts click on the gear cog upper right hand corner and you can select offline mode there.

"When Uplay starts..." That's the problem, it doesn't start. It tells me I must log in on line first, which I do, and it just keeps repeating the message. Proper firewalls ports are open and exception made for the game.

I recommend contacting Support and telling them your issue. They can trouble shoot with you.

I have....in fact it's a continuation of the ticket from December 2012.... still can't play the game. This Uplay thing is the biggest blunder in gaming I've ever seen. I will never again buy a game that requires this. If I shell out $50 or so on a game, I should be able to click on an icon and play, instead of waiting around for a year to play it because it won't log on to the internet, which discriminates those who don't have access. Another example of Big Brother, this coming from someone who used to work for "big brother". I'll most likely delete this nightmare, and continue to play FarCry and FarCry2.
