I've just gotten to the point where I've captured the Sanctuary town and the orcs have joined my side. But I gather the other towns on the map are orc towns. The obvious thing to do is to convert the towns...but since the orcs are helping you, it doesn't seem like the "tears" thing to do, and I gather from a walkthrough I read that you'll end up fighting the orcs.. What I was wondering was whether you could take a different strategy and build orc troops for the use of your orc hero.I know it flies in the face of the normal one-hero-with-giant-stack-of-doom approach that normally works in HOMM 6, and it might result in not getting Irina leveled up as fast, but is it a viable approach for this map (normal difficulty)? I guess I ask because otherwise the orc hero and troops seem like pretty much a waste, and it would be nice to play a different style for a change. Would I just be shooting myself in the foot to try and build up my orcs?
It depends on whether you want to go for blood or tears for Irina, I went to blood on that map and had to fight the orcs, In the inferno 4th map where you have a tears challenge of not converting any of the heaven castles I won with no trouble using only Kiril with an hybrid army.... Hybrid armies work well in this game because there's no negative morale and you can do a full might army or full magic army depending on your hero which is what I did with Kiril. About building the Orc, I don't know I guess it could work to, it'll just make things harder for the next map...
If you're playing as Tear Irina, I seriously doubt you'll have any problem dealing with a smaller Sanctuary army, so you should just play as you like. Genearlly, Tsunami spam, Kappa Shoyu Leap and Water Magic enhancement (via tier 3 unique) should be enough for you to murder almost everything on the map. If you have Earth Elemental, Time Stasis and/or Staff of Tides levelled to at least level 4, you should be able to easily own the normal difficulty Necropolis.
That said, you could go ahead and play with the Orc Shaman, though I would prefer to build up Changbo, who would carry over.
No idea why you say there no negative morale in Heroes VI, I assure you there is! And when you combine different faction armies, morale decreases, so not a good idea. EDIT: In fact, adding just ONE unit from a different faction (or a neutral), causes your Morale to almost drop to zero. Thus doing this is quite useless, as you won't get any Morale bonuses, which you would with just your OWN faction units.Originally Posted by ferthepoet Go to original post
I found just 1-2 battles with the Orcs, then went on to build up Irina and Changbo.
EDIT: Also, please see this walkthrough:

(if you haven't already done so, of course)
I level up my heroes like this - level up main hero till he/she reaches the level cap.Originally Posted by jscarey Go to original post
Then give all troops to 2nd hero (the one that carries over too), and level him up to level cap, or as far as you can. Then fight the last battle(s) of the Mission with the main hero.
(In rare cases, some battles are better to fight with 2nd hero - for example, when you need a might hero, but your main hero is magic.)
