As of this post, things must have changed. For my Windows 10 computer, I never disabled anything, firewalls are all enabled, never opened any ports, and everything works great for my Windows 10 computer! Yet, nothing works on my WIndows XP computer.Originally Posted by AnkitSaiyan Go to original post
As for my older computer box that requires Windows XP due to old hardware, does not work no matter what I do. I can install all of my other games that are Windows XP compatible, except not Settlers 4. I have given up on the downloading services.
Disabling the firewall would automatically open these ports. You must not have tried to disable firewall. I did disable firewall and opened my ports in the router. Still troubles from my older computer box.Originally Posted by golax510 Go to original post

Yep, I've done this. Still troubles from my older computer box.
My older computer requires Windows XP due to the hardware. I tried turning off the firewall, opening router ports, modifying the host file, restarted in Safe Mode with networking, restarted with limited start up mode from msconfig. Nothing!
Uplay still does not want to download the game cause it does not detect internet connection.
Uplay saw my internet connection for me to log in to Uplay to buy the game, but does not see the internet connection for me to download the game.
I am open to suggestions to get this Windows XP game to work on my WinXP computer.
Oh yeah, tried flushing my DNS. Tried to tell Uplay directly where the internet connection can be found. Nothing. Yet, works perfectly fine on my Windows 10 computer. I really do not like this trend of how games are sold by download instead of a CD for these WinXP computer games. A CD option should be available and I would pay the higher price for a CD. 20 year old computers are still awesome for streaming television services and able to securely surf internet thank to Linux.
Does Uplay have a Linux install so then I install your games on my older computer box?

My second post here is in reference to looking for another solution, possibly Linux.Originally Posted by UbiDork Go to original post
Thank you for answering my second post.
Please accept my apologies for the misunderstanding, crsublette. Just to be sure, you need assistance with installing The Settlers 4 on your Windows XP computer, as Uplay PC cannot establish a connection to our servers to complete the download?
You've mentioned in one post that you recently purchased this - would you mind leaving a link here in this thread to the version of the game you purchased on our store / the store you purchased it from? If it is the History Edition of Settlers 4, please be aware that the system requirements do state the compatible operating systems to be as follows: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 (64-bit versions only).
You can contact our technical team directly using this link - it may be best to contact us via a case for the ease of transferring files or screenshots if they are required or requested, and also for protecting any personal information that we may need to request. Could you also include in your case details regarding the type of connection you are using, and whether you have experienced any issues when downloading any other titles?
