I tried a few different capture programs and i found fraps to be the best, the only downside to fraps is it doesnt compress the file as it records so the 10 minute recordings end up being almost 10 gigs in size, and also you have to uncheck the "split file every 4GB" option. You can try fraps for free, you'll be able to record a 30 second clip which is long enough to decide if its the right program for you. Hope this helps a little

Actually shade, you're wrong, Fraps is NOT free.

Lastdie, the best free program that i've found is MSI Afterburner, it encodes to two formats, and uncompressed AVI, making a total of 3 encoding options, but only mjpeg is any good, the current version (2.2.4) does not support dual audio capture (game audio and microphone), BUT version 2.3.0 WILL support dual audio input, as well as improved encoding options.

    Here:

    MSI Afterburner

It's primarily a GPU overclocking program, BUT it does have video (and screenshot) capture functionality, but as i said, the current version does not allow dual audio capture, BUT the next release WILL, according the the guy developing it in this thread.

I just hope the next version is released before i get my hands on AC3, so i can test it properly.

MSI AB is the best free tool to record in-game clips. For most soundcards dual audio capture isnt a big issue, because you can set your mic output to be redirected to speakers and then capture speakers output
