And I will keep everyone posted, decided to buy both. Hoping to find a physical copy of CoD tomorrow, will buy 1946 online soon as well. Will keep everyone posted on how my system handles it for those like me who have similar (weaker?) systems and how performance is on it.

Any HID/DirectX compliant USB controller should work. You may need to fiddle with some of the axis assignments as not all manufacturers use the same DX assignments, but once set up they should work. I used an X45 for several years and usually found I had to assign the throttle in new games so that's a likely candidate for needing attention.

Regardless of whether you get a physical copy of CoD or not, it runs through Steam. It's likely you'll find a physical copy cheaper than Steams current price if what my Steam store list is showing is any indication, though Steam store prices for AU customers (me) are significantly higher than for US customers for some products. Because it's a Steam game it will automatically go in a sub-folder of the Steam folder. If you have any concerns about being in C:\Program Files, this steam support article gives instructions on how to move your steam installation if your already have one. I have it outside program files because of some older games that I run via Steam so I can't comment on if CoD works in the default Program Files steam folder.
