    Is this STILL not fixed?!!!

It's been a good while since I was last on this forum and thought I'd just check in.

I am stunned that it is still no further along to be considered in the same breath as "IL2"in all it's forms, but even more stunned that there are still a small number of zealots vainly clinging to the small thread of hope that it will be fixed!!!

See the light people. This sim was stillborn and still shows no signs of ever becoming a viable sim. It's a bargain bin title now and for such a recent title that says everything you need to know!

Such great expectations. Such a sad end.

P.s. I'd like my £50 refunded please. I paid out on the past reputation of this franchise and can only describe this product as a "scam"!

No it's still not fixed and according to Luthier the next official patch through Steam is the end of C.o.D., no further development. They are concentrating on the sequel which will have all improvement that they have been working on including planes and maps from C.o.D. The sequel by the way Luthier puts it will not merge with the current C.o.D. but the other way around, C.o.D. into B.o.M. if that's what they finally call it.

For those that have Sli systems be aware that once again they have crashed Sli support, you will probably have CTD if you instal the latest Beta patch. The only way you can get it to work at the moment is to disable Sli in the Nvidia Control Panel, so I haven't even bothered with it (I have an Sli system and I get CTD).

At least I can get Sli with good performance with the previous patch. Lot of very unhappy people in the forums over this as Luthier says they have no choice, the current engine is is basically not fixable.

Yes agreed Saipan, support ended for Il2 with the first release, the major difference was we had a playable demo to try before purchase if we wanted. With C.o.D. we had to buy a new and supposedly improved sim with a new graphics engine. This was advertised as being playable with the min specs indicated (what a joke that turned out to be, just ask the people using XP and dx9) it was also to have Sli support (luthier stated that they had broken the code for it shortly after release but were making it their No1 priority to get it fixed, still not done, in fact they have crashed it again so badly that the game with the lastest beta patch won't even start unless Sli is disabled in the control panel) and this is why a lot of users are as Luthier put it in one of his sarcastic replies " sounds like someone is a bit grouchy", you bet those of us that are multi card users are more than a bit grouchy Luthier. 18 months and still no official Sli/Crossfire support after all the promises what else do you expect. Just look at the post at 1C about Single/multi card users, multi card users are about 30% and we are again being ignored. OK BlackSix has stated that information has been sent to Nvidia for Sli support, guess we will wait to see if that eventuates.

To get most back onside they should release a playable demo for the sequel then we will at least see if the sim is worth getting. That was what happened with the original Il2 and the fan base evolved from there and they certainly need the support they have already lost or almost have done.

Nope, still not fixed but they'll sure STILL sell it to you. I like how they'll say "Oh we have patches now"; It's a little misleading and on purpose IMO. I wish never bought this game. There is no MANUAL updating system and Steam absolutely will not update this game. I want the version the Developers were showing us in the game play videos because what I have is choppy, discolored and buggy as all hell.

I'm annoyed too, mainly at my own gullibility in buying the game based on the achievements of the original series. That and the secrecy surrounding the development of the Storm of War, and the BS pre-launch claims and the eventual dismal reality - I would also like to have my £50 back (in a theoretical sense of course, cos it's all been spent already, be sure!)
All that and the elimination of Co-op mode is enough to put me off purchasing any sequel that may eventually appear.

steam wont update because they havent released an official patch yet. the beta patches install very easily. the online servers are great, we had over 70 people this weekend on the atag server. i think this game has come a long way. not perfect but still very fun.

the latest hotfix should address the sli/crossfire, not sure becuase i dont use 2 vcards.

Yes Siapan, the patch/hot fix was supposed to fix Sli/Crossfire as I understood but I think the real fix will come when Nvidia does their thing with Sli support. According to BlackSix the necessary information has been sent to Nvidia.

In the mean time I've found a fix for me that might work for others with Sli.

Read all the postings, there is aditional information past the first post.

    Hope this helps.

I agree Saipan. I simply have a hard time trying to fly IL-2 with its dated graphics, even with mods. I fly sims because of what they are, sims. I want a flight experience that is as close to reality as possible. As a simmer since the 90's, I've come to expect new sims to improve graphically and in detail of aircraft operation. COD in is present form delivers on those criteria. At mid level graphics settings, COD blows away IL-2. The sounds are much better as well. I was actually physically startled when a 109 dove past the window of my Spit after I had lost sight of him in the sun. This is the same experience that real WWII pilots had. The cockpit shadows, reflections, glare, tracers, impact explosions, white caps, exhaust flames, trees, smoke and sounds all create a deeper sense of "suspension of reality". IL-2 clearly exceeds COD in plane choice, theaters of conflict (except for Battle of Britain), mission variety and online community. I expect COD will expand over time as IL-2 did. In the meantime I'll savor this ultra detailed slice of history now that it runs acceptably on my average rig.
