    Would Use4renders be possible?

    Guys,
    I have been experimenting with differnet resolutions and configurations in anticipation of getting my 5th and 6th screens (3 over 3) up and running and the game engine will put out all kinds of different size and shape windows. I had a 3840 X 2048 window going and still had 60FPS. Your primary screen must be top left and then the game will span the desktop whatever it is. I was missing two of the screens yet but the picture was that big. I also put in 4096 X 768 and was able to get the game on 4 screens side by side. Of course that puts the center of the cockpit between two screens which is not usable, but....

    Would there be a way to mod the config fiile or the program itself, save the aspect and get that fourth screen to be looking directly behind? I tried changing Use3renders to use4renders but when it luanches it adds "Use3renders=0" to the config file. I've tried all kinds of things in the config but nothing has worked so far. But if I can get 3renders (left front and side view) on 3072 X 768, and I can get a wide front view at 4096 x 768, does it seem that far a stretch to try and get 4 renders (left, right, front and back) on 4096 x 768?

    I thought I remebered reading something about people adding a camera somewhere but I can't find that thread. Any input is appreciated... F.

    If it matters, CyberpowerPC i7 3770, GTX 680, 16GB ram, 1000W PSU, 2TB HDD, TH2go Analog in DVI-I to 3- 19" 4:3 1280 X 1024 LCD , 1- 19" 1280 X 1024 LCD in DVI-D, coming soon- 2- 19" LCD in HDMI and Dispaly Port.

    I guess it would have something to do with what you would see on a screen dedicated to "back" view, if it was possible. I would expect it to show the back of the seat and the headrest and precious little else. And where are you planning to place this rear screen - behind you?

    IL2:1946 doesn't support this directly. About the only way you'd get what you're after is to run a separate box, play in multiplayer coop mode and have the second box showing and external view from the front of your aircraft.
    FSX does what you want but it still uses a mod and multiplayer and needs a separate box. The mod allows other players in your FSX session to see views from inside your cockpit, you set up your second box to show the views that your first box can't show. The sort of results you can get doing this are like shown at http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?...08&#entry49922 , note all the computers under the desk. I believe he had seven boxes networked to do that.

    I should probably just let it go. But it seemed so close that it wouldn't take too much to pull it off. And Brando since you asked, yes, that screen would go behind. If you set up use3renders and have 3 screens 90 degrees to each other, you get a 270 degree view without any need for Track IR. If you could put a fourth behind your head, you'd have 360. You could then turn off the yaw in your Track IR and only have the pitch work to give you a view over the back of the seat and over head. Of course, the screens need to be normal aspect (4:3) and the largest you can get is 20". That's a pretty small box around your head. It's a shame we can't use3renders in widescreen. Three 42" LCDs at 90 degrees would make for an awsome view. Can anyone talk to Oleg?

    Oh well. If I can't be happy with 6 screens, 3840 X 2048 and Track IR with 60fps, I need to get my head examined, not my computer. I should have all six plugged in by the end of the weekend. It will take a little while to get them all mounted on the wall rack I'm building, but at least I'll confirm it all works. I have a small concern because I've read the GTX 680 will only use 3 of the 4 outputs for the game. But all of my testing so far has shown that if you can get the desktop on the screen, you can get the IL-2 game window on it. Worst case scenario, I would need a second TH2go. But I hope that's not the case, and I'm pretty confident it's not. And Goth, it took me almost 2 years to scrimp and save and shop for this rig but man is it gonna be worth it. IL-2 is just freakin awsome. Thanks for the input boys. I'm sure I'll post a pic when this sim pit is totally finished. I'm really starting to feel there's an online squadron for me in the not so distant future.

    Fellas,
    Take a look at this video. I swear this is use3renders in wide scrren. It has the flashing box but you never get a front view to know for sure. Is use3 renders possible in widescreen?

    Well Six screens are up and running with no problem. The GTX 680 will put out game window on all four ports. It confirms that if you can get the desktop on a screen, you can get the IL-2 window on it. I have to finish my custom wall mount to get optimum setup as far as screen layout and seating location but it's pretty cool as is. 3840 X 2048 and 60+ FPS. I'll post a pic. F.

    PS- No commnets on 3renders in widescreen??

    Yes, would like to see a pic of that when you are done, with IL2 running on it.

    Isn't it just a matter of writting the desired screen-size into the conf.ini file?

    Mine, for example, reads:

    [window]
    width=1920
    height=1200
    ColourBits=32
    DepthBits=24
    StencilBits=8
    ChangeScreenRes=1
    FullScreen=1
    DrawIfNotFocused=1
    EnableResize=1
    EnableClose=1
    SaveAspect=0
    Use3Renders=0

    So, presumably, with three screens:

    width=5760
    height=1200
    .............
    ............ &
    Use3Renders=1

    would do the trick?

    That will get you on three screens, but the Use3Renders option does it without the cropping top and bottom of the field of view. When you use that parameter it creates 3 different screen renders, one straight ahead and if I understand it correctly, one at the current FOV setting left and right of the main render. The result is a really wide view without the totally freaky wide view distortion at the edges (basically both side screens). At FOV=90, the side screens will be looking straight out the sides over each of your wings with the same view as you'd get on your main using SnapViewLeft or SnapViewRight.

    As it's a conf.ini setting, changing it from "Use3Renders=1" to "Use4Renders=1" or some other number of renders will only result in the game not recognising the parameter at all
    For it to work as fknox is asking, the parameter would have to be re-programmed to something like NumberOfRenders=x, which would create problems of its own. The biggest problem off the top of my head would be working out what screen arrangement the game expects for each number. Two, three and six are fairly intuitive, but how would you set up four or five screens?
