I went through the first campaigns without any issues - but after final campaign my screen gets black. Exactly as Bookbelby writes.
I am right now playing the last campaign and it works fine - but there are campaigns which cause the screen to go black.
I am running Windows 10 and has a Intel graphics card on my Gigabyte computer.
So few days ago i bought Heroes of M&M VI Shades of Darkness, downloaded it and whenever i try to start it, it just goes to black screen and its "not responding" i tried some solution written here, but in most cases the game at least started and you could play a bit. I have Win 10 64 bit, i5-8400, gtx 1070, 16gb ram and so on... Heroes VII are running without any problém and heroes V did too. Can anyone help me fix this?
P.S. Sorry for my english, its clearly not my first language, i hope everyone can understand what i wrote.
Thx
Hi Guys, if you are getting this issue and none of the suggestions are working, please contact our Support Team, including a DxDiag report and MS info https://ubi.li/8rbz6
This is ridiculous. Anyone considered a class action lawsuit? The way this franchise has been run into the ground is insane. Years after release and still unplayable.
This thread has > 400 posts from frustrated players with the same graphics issue. I just bought this game for the second time (bought it while it was in beta for $65, then again last week for the DLC, only to be sorely disappointed again)
I sent my system reports in with a support ticket.
Also, I don't think messing with settings is going to fix anything for anyone. I can reproduce the dark screen reliably simply by switching to the above ground map in the first SOD map. The dark screen is a result of attempting to load map resources that are problematic. How hard is it to replace the resources that are problematic? Maybe a week for a single developer, including testing?
Yes when I play the first map of the dungeon campaign it goes black when I go above ground and don't know how to fix it at all. I have tried syncing the visual button trick several times. When I go back underground or go into battle I can hit the sync visuals and get the game to go back to normal; but when I go back top or exit the battle it goes all black once more
I've really gotta get a proper graphics card as I still get this stupid issue with my old Intel HD 6000 onboard graphics. As a result I've never played any of the addon content all these years as the moment I touch them it's super dark screens galore. :/I am also having this issue, in very specific campaigns (which makes me think it's not a video card issue because why would that be campaign-specific?). The campaigns where it turns black on the main adventure screen AND during battle are Crag Hack, Sandro, and the Dark Elves so far (I haven't tried the next campaigns). When I went through the original campaigns from the beginning of the original game, I had the screen turn black twice during gameplay and it just took closing the game and restarting it to fix the problem.
I'm actually able to play Raelag's campaign somewhat, and got it to show normally by following these steps: every time the screen turns black, I go into Options and either turn off or on the Vsync mode. This refreshes the screen so I can play...until I go into battle mode, when it goes black again and I have to change the Vsync setting again. Then I went upstairs and now everything is black in the adventure mode and I can only get normal views in battles (again, they start off black screen and then I reset the Vsync to see normally). This is really annoying, since I have to hover slowly over the screen to see where things are, and I'm probably missing things. I also shouldn't have to reset an option every time I start a battle.
My laptop only has one video card: Intel HD Graphics 520, I'm running on a Toshiba laptop with Windows 7 64-bit. I've read in other places that Intel graphics cards aren't supported, but if that's true why did every other campaign until now work flawlessly? It's not even limited to the Shades of Darkness expansion, because Crag Hack is not part of that. I downloaded this from Steam, so I have tried all the fixes listed that I can. I really love the gameplay and would like to finish the campaigns without all this frustration.
It's hard to find fan theories/fixes for the darkened screen issue as it often gets confused/mixed up with all the total black screen complaints others post. However the fixes I've seen are:
1. Turn V-Sync off and on again as that resets the graphics, however that never worked for me, stayed super dark.
2. Go into your dedicated graphics cards settings and tell it NOT to share duties with your onboard Intel graphics however that doesn't help people like me who ONLY have onboard Intel graphics lol.
Since the usual "update your drivers" and "activate compatibility mode" suggestions have no effect on this one the official Ubisoft response is of course the default "you don't meet the minimum requirements" so tough friggin luck one:

But honestly that seems like nothing more than an excuse/cop out for not fixing what is probably just some silly little problem as the rest of the game runs perfectly fine on Intel graphics chips so implying that certain addon pack missions have different system requirements to the rest of the game because they're somehow magically way more advanced despite being in the same engine is just a joke. When you think of the insane numbers of people using laptops with Intel graphics even in the early 2010s when this came out it's amazing they just 'locked them all out' of the addon content lol. I'm sure it wasn't deliberate, it was probably just an accident that didn't get fixed due to Ubi pulling the plug on funding. What I wouldn't give for a fan patch/mod that tinkered with this and all the other issues.
