    Video Card Problem

I just bought a copy of Silent Hunter 4 and am having a problem getting it to run.

It starts ok, and I can get a ways into the navigation lesson in submarine school when the video goes extremely fuzzy, and even once exiting, my desktop and other windows are fuzzy.

I have run a program to tell me if my computer will handle SH4, and it says everything is fine except for my video car. It says I have a GeForce 6105SE nForce 430. It also tells me I have way more video ram than I need, and new versions of other requirements.

    What do I do?

    thanks

Greetings, Rad19z. Welcome to the SH Forums.

Two quick questions. Is your computer a desktop or a laptop. Second, what program are you running to find out if your computer will run SHIV?

Thanks Tambor198! It's great to see there's such an active community still after so many years still!

My computer is a laptop. The site I used was http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri_if/1072/04368

    Hi Rad19z

Even though SHIV is over 5 years old it puts a heavy load on any graphics card because it is a very demanding game graphically. Have you tried lowering your graphic settings ingame and in on your graphics card to minimum to see if the game will run any better?

You might find out it would be better upgrading to a better graphics card which will handle the game better. But don't worry about that until you've tried other things first.

I have not tried that yet. I'll try it when I get home tonight.

But it says my video card has like four times as much video ram than what is required to run the game. Surely that would be enough. And I do hope to eventually add on some mods you guys have created, which presumably takes still more horse power.

    Thank you.

I turned some settings down, but it didn't make a difference. To mention it, my computer is about a year old.

If it's not tood much trouble, Rad. Would you be so kind as to list your computer components, or maybe provide a link that describes them.
