When you're knowledgeable, wisdom must speak so truth prevails!Originally Posted by WernherVonTrapp Go to original post
However, I agree, fools should remain silent, as well as women as the bible commands, learning only under the guidance of man. I can't remember the scripture exactly, but something like
"women and children should be seen and not heard"

Er, says you, I go with the greek and the culture it was taught in.Originally Posted by WernherVonTrapp Go to original post
1 Tim 2:12
" I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent"
Clear, women to be quiet at all times around men.
1 Cor 14:34
"women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak,
but must be in submission, as the Law says. "
Of course correct greek to latin to english is needed for Cors, but MWolfe is here to provide
that...What is a church or what was it then, it was a place where men gathered to discuss issues,
often cultural/social as well as religious, play cards and eat. The verse is clear, anywhere where men
are gathered women are to remain silent, so that would apply to this forum. However, since this is writing and
we don't have to listen to women blabber, as long as the men approve, I guess it's OK for them
to post, but not start a thread, teach sub tactics, etc...
Oops, my mistake.I guess God was wrong then, and we have nothing to learn from the books of "Ruth"
and "Esther".
Besides, I was referring strictly to the passage from Proverbs that deals solely with the issue of "guarding the tongue", which is a "wise" thing to do. As far as the other "New Testament" scripture you injected, not in any way related to the quote from Proverbs (Greek, Hebrew , or otherwise), that only applies to an equally yoked marriage between Christians, and only if the Father/Husband remains true and loyal to his Christian responsibilities as head of the household/family, as the books of Ruth and Esther prove.![]()
