I know I am going to be FLAMED for some of my following comments but that's cool, because although some ( mabey a lot ) of players may disagree with me, right or wrong we all have a right to our own opinions.
For starters I, like many FPS have been waiting years for the next release of this latest ( FC3 ) game. Initially I was overjoyed to see that Ubi , had decided to go back to the jungle for the latest rendation, however the more I see, the more I am becoming a little worried about the end result. I could go on for hours describing all the great things I have seen so far, but there are a few other things, that I find troubling.
However before going any futher, I feel obliged to ad that although some things are not to my liking, I will still purchase the game, although I don't think I will be standing in the rain for days on the sidewalk awaiting it's arrival.
Call me old school, but although it is one's personal choice in life, mine has always been to stay away from any form of mind altering substances. It's ironic that now in order to play the game, I must bow to the fact that this will be a part of my game weather I like it or not. There may not be monsters or aliens in the game play, but helucinations, blank magic, and mind altering drugs are not quite what I had expected in a jungle adventure.
Another issue I have is the sexual content. Please don't anyone get me wrong here because I like a jog between the sheets as much as anyone else, however I don't think it should be part of a game such as this. There are hundreds of software titles that will take great pleasure in showing off some " boob's " but I don't think a jungle survival game should be one of them. Why UBI would stoop to displaying this kind of nudity, thinking that by doing so, it would make the game more apealing, is behond my comprention.
In closing, Forum members may post what ever comments they might have regading my above statements, but please be advised that I will not be drawn into any back & forth arguments regarding my personal opinions, so don't anyone expect me to get into a piss'ing match, or respond in any way, since I have said all I am going to say on the subject..
Robert, an eight year FC player.
I can understand that some people may not like some of the things this game pruposes.. Or atleast is suggesting..... Challenging to them
I however think they are doing a really great job of re-inventing the franchise.... It's got alot more than any of it's predessors
I agree with viragox play first then judge later.... It seems you can choose a certain direction of missions and stay away from others potentially that could be dead ends quite literally.
I think they may be alot of mixed messages that will unfold themselves more fully when you play it for yourself
That's more than okay, to stay away from "mind altering substances", in real life, but i think that's what are games for to experience things you cannot, or don't want in your real life. Just for fun, And in connection with sexual content, personally I don't think, that they intend to use sexuality just for the sake of using it. It must have a role, like seducing/manipulating Jason. In that case I'm fine with sexual content, otherwise I agree with you.

First off...Spellcheck would've been helpful in your initial post to this thread...lol
FC3 is, what it is...and won't be radically changing, anytime.
If you're offended by any aspects of the game, you're free to make your own judgement, purchase.
We're all entitled to our opinions...and you have made yours clear.
You said you'll purchase the game anyway? Then I'd give it a chance before you start to knock it down too much.
Possibly after you start the game. it may come across to you a whole different way...it's all part of the story.
This is a video game, not real life.
Are you scared that if your character in a game does drugs that you'll want to go out and do drugs yourself also? What are you, 8 years old?
I'm pretty sure you also avoid running around shooting everyone in sight like a madman in real life, why are you ok with doing THAT in a video game? Think about what you're saying before you say it...
/facepalm
Well I would be more concerned about the language to be honest, but the facts are that certificate 18 for films and DVDs and video games does not really mean anything nowadays, how many kids do you get that join a match who think they deserve a spot on American Idol - some spotty kid who has a squeaky voice box and won't shut up until you mute them - some parents don't give a toss so long as they are out of their way and quiet.
Nowadays the internet and mobile phones are full of smut so the virtual breasts will be no shocker for the people playing this - and as for the drugs, I think in FC3 it could be more natural hallucinogenics - how many have coffee or take pain killers or headache tablets, its all drugs and some of this stuff they say not to drive with, I think it might be more tastefully done then something you would see in Vice City - in FCIP they were testing on people with experiments and that was in a jungle - I am not knocking Wolf in any way - it's his opinion and everyone should respect that, the language thing though has me thinking about people in houses with the noise cranked up and others having no choice but to listen - I could say do they have to include all that crap in the dialogue but truth be known I will only watch the cut scenes once and will skip them on the second play through as I do with all games.
They have made a statement - maybe its a little shock and awe, I can't wait for the game and tripping with Dr Earnhardt looks a blast with all the psychedelic colors and those birds flying around.
The story looks to be dark and twisted and they say it holds a dark secret - Who knows how they pan it out - it might end up sending out a valuable message about drugs in what it does to the player or how he overcomes things.
There is no mention of addiction that I know of, it could be something that relaxes or heals him - some people meditate - maybe the mushroom puts him into some state where he can understand the Island better.
I am not going to knock anyones opinion with this but I think the story will be very rewarding and a better judgement can be made after getting through it.
I haven't been on the forums since the new look. I just watched some new gameplay footage, and I'm not interested.
don't get me wrong, it looks like a well established game, but from what I seen in FC2, the game has become very arcade like.
while some people may enjoy that, that isn't what I (emphasis on the I) wanted from a Far Cry game.
So I don't think It will be worth my time anymore.
